Position Title:
Seamstress/Tailor
Reports to:
Store Manager
Primary Purpose of Position:
The Seamstress/Tailor’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most
enjoyable shopping experience possible for our guests.” The Seamstress/Tailor performs a variety of
operational tasks to support the execution of alterations in the store, including the hemming of jeans and
pants.
Essential Job Functions:
A.
Tasks

Perform quality alterations on merchandise at store location

Use Company provided sewing machine and supplies to perform alterations

Following ticket instruction/marking

Measure and mark alteration lines

Pins altering folds or marks on cloth at seam to indicate alterations to be made

Removes stitches from garment, using ripper or razor blade

Resews merchandise using needle and thread or sewing machine

Press merchandise, using a hand iron or steamer

Repair defective merchandise

Remove spots or stains from merchandise

Follow through on alteration log

Records required alterations and instructions

Maintain specified productivity guidelines

Work area clean, organized and stocked with current supplies

Communicate any policy violations to Store Manager in a timely, confidential manner

Uphold all Company policies as outlined in the Buckle Teammate Handbook

Provide feedback to Store Manager, Assistant Manager, and Floor Leaders regarding
merchandise handling concerns

Objective Qualifications

Must be 17 years of age or older in the states of Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida,
Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North
Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.

Must be 18 years of age or older in all other states

Prior sewing and fitting experience

Prior alteration experience

Must be willing to work approximately 15-25 hours per week, with seasonal variable hours.
(Please note that hours are issued based upon performance and our scheduling needs, so it is
possible your hours may fluctuate.)
