How to convert your outline into your rough draft Once you have completed your outline, you now have a good map to follow when writing your essay. You simply (I know it is not as easy as it sounds) need to write a sentence for each detail in your outline. Then you can polish those sentences using your transitional phrases and other techniques to make your sentences really flow together well. Below is example of how this works. I. The Outline The Conversion (this is only part of it because this is just an example) Write sentences for each of your details in the outline. (Remember we are only working on the Bio paragraph.) Biography A. Original founder of “extreme Skateboarding Tony Hawk was one of the original founders of what we know today as “Extreme Skateboarding”. B. born May 12, 1968 He was born May 12, 1968 in San Diego C. Born in San Diego, California He became famous for landing the first ever 900 in skateboarding. D. Landing the first 900 E. Starting major “Extreme sports” Events F. Film and acting He has started many Extreme Sports events that showcase skateboarders as well as motorcycle riders, and BMX bikes. He has also been in films both as an actor and as a producer. The Final Bio Paragraph The colored sentences show where I used my complete sentences that I created when I converted the outline into complete sentences. Tony Hawk was one of the original founders of what we know today as “Extreme Skateboarding”. He was (I added commentary just to make the sentence better) born May 12, 1968 in San Diego and by the age of 8, he was well on his way to being a great skateboarder. Soon after (I added a transition statement to help it flow) starting his career as a professional skater at the age of 16, he became famous for landing the first ever 900 in (I added a commentary sentence) skateboarding. Not only has Tony Hawk pushed the limits of skateboarding, he has also pushed the limits of his career in other directions. He has started many Extreme Sports events that showcase skateboarders as well as motorcycle (transition words) riders, and BMX bikes. In addition, he has also been in films both as an actor and as a producer. Tony Hawk continues (I finished off the paragraph with a conclusion sentence) to influence the sport of Skateboarding today and to open new doors for up-and-coming stars.
