Need Based Scholarships - Scholarships in this category are awarded on the basis of academic potential, need, and the written essay. A professional resume may be included. U.S. students must have a FAFSA on file with CityU and a completed financial statement. Canadian students must submit a copy of their Tax Assessment. ISO students and Ed.D. students are not eligible to apply for Need Based Scholarships. Merit Based Scholarships - Scholarships in this category are awarded to applicants who have earned at least 40 undergraduate credits with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at City University of Seattle or 12 graduate credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75 at CityU. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic potential, GPA, and the written essay. Applicants should also include a professional resume. Ed.D. students are not eligible to apply for Merit Based Scholarships. Transfer Scholarships - Scholarships in this category are awarded to Washington State Residents who are first-time applicants to CityU and have earned an Associate’s degree in the last 18 months (School of Management or Division of Arts and Sciences students) or are transferring at least 75 credits (School of Education students only). Students awarded this scholarship must take 10 credits per quarter. Students must not be receiving any additional tuition discounts. Transitioning Veterans Scholarships – Scholarships in this category are awarded to new students applying for the first time to CityU who are Washington State Residents and are Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Applicants must be no more than 24 months prior to or 12 months after their separation or demobilization date. Awards are based on academic potential, need, and the written essay. City University of Seattle 04/09/15 3 Additional Application Requirements for Specific Scholarship Options: General Scholarship Need Based: If you are applying for summer quarter 2015 through spring quarter 2016, you need to either submit a 2015-2016 FAFSA (prior to the scholarship deadline) or provide a copy of your 2014 Income Tax Return in its entirety. Eligible non-U.S. Citizens should provide documentation comparable to a 2014 U.S. Tax Return; such as a Tax Assessment. A completed Financial Statement Form (included in this application). General Scholarship Merit Based: Applicants are required to include a professional resume, and An unofficial copy of your current CityU transcript (available from the my.cityu.edu Student Portal). If submitted via email, this must be a .PDF attachment of the unofficial transcript page.
