Cultivating honesty lays the foundation for lifelong integrity, developing in each of us the courage and insight to make difficult choices and accept responsibility for actions and their consequences, even at a personal cost. /// FAIRNESS An academic community of integrity establishes clear standards, practices, and procedures and expects fairness in the interactions of students, faculty, and administrators. For students, important components of fairness are predictability, clear expectations, and a consistent and just response to dishonesty. Faculty and administrators also have a right to expect fair treatment, not only from students but also fromcolleagues and the administration. /// TRUST An academic community of integrity fosters a climate of trust, encourage the free exchange of ideas, and enables all to reach their highest potential. Only with trust can we believe in and rely on others and move forward as a community. Within an environment of trust, we can collaborate with individuals, sharing information and ideas without fear that our work or property will be stolen, our career stunted, or our reputations diminished. Though trust, our communities can believe in the social value and meaning of an institutions’ scholarship and degrees. /// RESPECT An academic community of integrity recognizes the participatory nature of the learning process and honors and respects a wide range of opinions, ideas, and cultures. /// RESPONSIBILITY An academic community of integrity upholds personal accountability and depends upon action in the face of wrongdoing. Every member of an acadmic community -- each student, faculty member, and administrator -- is responsible for upholding the integrity of the the community. 6 THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS Financial options for e ve ry phase of your life Visit one of our Greensboro Locations: 1604-A Highwoods Blvd. 2645 Lanwdale Avenue 303-A Pisgah Church Road 4203 West Wendover Avenue Order catering online at paneracatering.com or by contacting a catering sales coordinator. UNCG grants 6 hours of transfer credit for completing basic training. There are designated on-campus personnel in key offices and departments including the Chancellor’s Office, Registrar’s Office, Admissions, and Student Affairs who serve as liaisons for militaryaffiliated students. The Veterans Networking Program pairs current UNCG military students with new military and veteran affiliated students to enhance the support experience through regular contact and resource referral. The Student Veteran Association is a student organization that provides peer support, social activities, and raises awareness of military/veteran student issues on campus. There are a wide range of Spartan community activities to support the military, such as Veterans Day Remembrance events, fundraising for military families in need, care packages sent to deployed students, and more. UNCG was awarded the “Military Friendly School” designation by GI Jobs magazine for two consecutive years, placing it in the top 15% of colleges, universities and trade schools working to embrace veterans as students. In addition, UNCG was designated “Best for Vets” by Military Times Edge magazine in 2013, and was the only public university in NC on the list. 9 PHONE NUMBER & RESOURCE GUIDE /// ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS Bryan School of Business & Economics 336.334.5928 http://www.uncg.edu/bae/ School of Education 336.334.3403 http://www.uncg.edu/soe/ College of Arts & Sciences 336.334.4361 http://www.uncg.edu/casa/ School of Health & Human Sciences 336.334.5744 http://www.uncg.edu/hhs/ Jackson Library 336.334.5304 http://library.uncg.edu/ School of Music, Theatre & Dance 336.334.5789 http://performingarts.uncg.edu/ Learning & Living Learning Communities 336.334.8599 http://learningcommunities.uncg.edu/ School of Nursing 336.334.5010 http://nursing.uncg.edu/ Lloyd International Honors College 336.334.5538 http://honorscollege.uncg.edu/ /// SUPPORT RESOURCES Career Services Center 336.334.5454 http://csc.dept.uncg.edu/ Student Health Services 336.334.5340 http://www.uncg.edu/shs/ Counseling & Testing Center 336.334.5874 http://www.uncg.edu/shs/ctc/ Student Success Center 336.334.3878 http://success.uncg.edu/ Dean of Students 336.334.5514 http://deanofstudents.uncg.edu/ Undergraduate Student Excellence 336.334.5534 http://excellence.uncg.edu/ Accessibility Resources & Services 336.334.5440 http://ods.dept.uncg.edu/ Veterans Outreach 336.334.5514 http://deanofstudents.uncg.edu/vets/ Division of Student Affairs 336.334.5099 http://www.uncg.edu/saf/ Wellness Center 336.334.5340 http://www.uncg.edu/shs/wellness Health Insurance 336.334.3230 http://www.uncg.edu/shs/about/insurance/ Women’s Health & Wellness 336.334.4736 http://www.uncg.edu/hhs/cwhw/index.html Learning Assistance Center 336.334.3878 http://success.uncg.edu/lac/ Writing Center 336.334.3125 http://www.uncg.edu/eng/writingcenter/ Speaking Center 336.334.1346 http://speakingcenter.uncg.edu/ Your First Year 336.334.5231 http://yourfirstyear.uncg.edu/ Special Support Services 336.334.7533 http://success.uncg.edu/sss/ 10 PHONE NUMBER & RESOURCE GUIDE /// CAMPUS LIFE Alumni Association 336.334.5696 http://www.uncg.edu/ala/ Housing & Residence Life 336.334.5636 http://hrl.uncg.edu/ Athletics 336.334.5952 http://www.uncgspartans.com/landing/index International Programs Center 336.334.8509 http://studyabroad.uncg.edu/ Campus Activities & Programs 336.334.5800 http://www.uncg.edu/cap/ Multicultural Affairs 336.334.5090 http://maf.dept.uncg.edu/ Campus Recreation 336.334.5924 http://campusrec.uncg.edu/ New Student & Spartan Family Programs 336.334.5231 http://ori.dept.uncg.edu/ Commuting & Living Off-Campus 336.334.5800 http://www.uncg.edu/cap/commuter/ Office of Leadership & Service Learning 336.334.0538 http://olsl.uncg.edu/ Elliott University Center 336.334.5510 http://www.uncg.edu/euc/ Weatherspoon Art Museum 336.334.5770 http://weatherspoon.uncg.edu/ EUC Box Office 336.334.4849 http://www.uncg.edu/euc/boxoffice /// SERVICES Bookstore 336.334.3279 http://campusenterprises.uncg.edu/bookstore/ Registrar 336.334.5946 http://www.uncg.edu/reg/ SpartanCard Center Cashiers & Student Accounts 336.334.5651 336.334.5831 http://fsv.uncg.edu/cashiers/cashiers_payment.html http://firstcard.uncg.edu/ Dining Services 336.334.4101 http://campusenterprises.uncg.edu/dining/ Spartan Mail 336.334.5620 http://spartanmail.uncg.edu/ Financial Aid 336.334.5702 http://fia.uncg.edu/ Technical Support 336.256.8324 http://its.uncg.edu/ Parking Operations & Campus Access Management 336.334.5681 http://parking.uncg.edu/ University Operator 336.334.5000 Police Department 336.334.5963 http://police.uncg.edu/index.html 11 12 Kick Off Your 2013-2014 Academic Year in a RAWKIN’ Way!
