Assignment 1: Chapter 1: The Science of Psychology
Throughout the course you will be required to read chapters in the textbook and take thorough notes. Your notes are a
product of your individual creation that will require you to reflect on the information you have read focusing on the
major topics within each chapter along with the influential research that has impacted each area of psychology. These
notes will become excellent reference materials for the unit tests, midterm exam, final exam, and the AP exam. In
addition, a ten question book quiz (worth 10 points) will be given for most chapters. Students will be able to use
ONLY their notes taken from the chapter assigned. PowerPoint slides and any online resources will not be permitted.
Read Chapter 1, “The Science of Psychology” in the class textbook and take thorough notes outlining the chapter.
This is an individual assignment that is to be in your own words. Bring your notes to class on the second day,
Wednesday, September 9, 2015 for an open- note 20 question quiz worth 40 points.
Assignment 2: Application of Psychological Concepts to Outside Sources
Read the selected excerpt from A Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink. After reading the excerpt, you will demonstrate
your understanding of Pink’s point of view and ability to connect his work to concepts from the first chapter of the
textbook by answering the following prompts in a typed, double spaced, 12 font, Times New Roman or Ariel font,
response to be submitted on the first day of class, Tuesday, September 8, 2015. YOU MUST HAVE A PRINTED
COPY!!! EMAILED SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!! You will also need to save an electronic copy of
your work for submission to Turnitin.com. We will be submitting as a class during the first week of school.
