Linda Godfrey is from Wollongong where she writes poetry, fiction and works as an editor
and manuscript assessor. Her poetry has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies.
Linda curates Rocket Readings, poetry at the Wollongong Art Gallery, part of the Sydney
Writers Festival and Viva La Gong since 2007. She is also the series editor for Spineless
Wonders' microliterature series and she hosts Little Fictions, live performances of short
stories read by professional actors, at Knox St Bar, Chippendale on the second Monday of
the month.
Julie Chevalier writes poetry and short fiction in Sydney’s inner west. She mentors and
teaches poetry and offers online workshops with Australian Poetry. Her first poetry
collection is Linen Tough as History (Puncher & Wattmann, 2012). Her second, Darger:
his girls (Puncher &Wattmann, 2012), was awarded the Alec Bolton Prize for an
Unpublished Poetry Manuscript in 2011, and shortlisted for the WA Premiers’ Poetry Prize
in 2013. Permission to Lie, a collection of short stories, was published by Spineless
Wonders in 2011.
With Linda Godfrey, Julie co-edited two Spineless Wonders anthologies of prose
poem/flash fiction: Small Wonder and Stoned Crows & other Australian Icons.
Introducing August’s Fifth Monday guests will be Dael Allison. The three poets have
workshopped together monthly since first meeting at the Wollongong poetry camp in 2006.
21 September – Maggie Ball
Magdalena Ball was born in New York City, where she grew up. After gaining an honours
degree in English Literature from the City University of New York (CCNY), she moved to
Oxford to study English Literature at a postgraduate level. After a brief return to the US,
she then migrated to NSW Australia, where she now resides on a rural property with her
husband and three children. Magdalena runs the well respected review site The
Compulsive Reader. Her short stories, editorials, poetry, reviews and articles have
appeared in a wide number of printed anthologies and journals, and have won local and
international awards for poetry and fiction. She is the author of the poetry books Repulsion
Thrust and Quark Soup, the novels Black Cow, and Sleep Before Evening, a nonfiction
book The Art of Assessment, and, in collaboration with Carolyn Howard-Johnson, the
Celebration Series poetry books Deeper Into the Pond, Blooming Red, Cherished Pulse,
She Wore Emerald Then, and Imagining the Future. She also runs a radio show, The
Compulsive Reader Talks.

Steve Armstrong has won the 2015 Bruce Dawe Prize. His entry named "A Cracked & Weathered
Prayer was a stand-out entry for this years judging panel.
Wayne Pringle has released his first book “Wherever You May Be”. It contains 41 poems & 1 short
story. Come on a journey through the universe to experience nature, love & life and all the ups and
downs that go with it, or just come for a laugh with the occasional risqué adventure. Either way it’s

Self-promotion Corner
Poetry at the Lake Mac pub at Morisset is on the 2ND SUNDAY of each month, from 3pm onwards.
This reading has recently been established by Linda Ireland and Blue Room Poets. The next event is on
Sunday July 12th. As well as the usual readings there is an original limerick competition. Please be
sensitive to the public audience if presenting a limerick.

Recordings We are building up a collection of recordings of readings since the purchase of our minidisk
recorder over the last 9 years or so. Some have been separated into individual tracks for each reader,
but many haven’t. CDs of recordings of some readings will be sold at a nominal price to cover recording,
printing and CD costs, not exceeding $10 per CD. Contact Clark for more information.
