Blessings and welcome to the Pike YMCA where
Christian principles are put into practice.
Thank you for picking up a copy of our Winter/
Spring Program Guide and giving us the opportunity
to serve and share some new beginnings with you
in 2015 as we transition into the year 2016! The
Pike family is excited for all the NEW, dynamic, and
exciting programs and activities we have planned
for you and your family to enjoy. Navigate through
this guide to see all the amazing programs we are
offering this Winter/Spring.
As a new member of the Pike YMCA leadership
staff, I would like to extend a thank you for the
warm welcome I have received from the community.
The Pike YMCA offers, Youth Basketball,Taekwondo,
and Dance, which will give your children the
opportunity to develop self-confidenceand learn
leadership skills. For adults we offer dynamic
personal training, Weight Management Classes,
Women on Weights, and exciting Group Exercise
Classes. This Winter/Spring all the Pike center staff
is honored to be serving you on your journey to a
healthier lifestyle!

PROGRAM MEMBER BENEFITS
Anyone may enroll in YMCA programs
(camp, swim lessons, sports, personal training,
etc.). However, YMCA Facility Members enjoy
reduced rates and many other benefits.
Program Members are invited to upgrade to
a full service Facility Membership during the
current program session. You will receive
credit toward a YMCA membership joining fee
of the difference between the rate you paid
for classes and the member rate.

FRIENDLY BUSINESS REMINDERS!
We are excited to have you as a
member of the Pike YMCA. Please remember
the following:
• Monthly drafts will occur on the designated day
each month. A $20 fee will be added to your
unpaid monthly fee if there are insufficient funds
at the time of your draft.
• Any changes or cancellations to a membership
must be made at least 6 days before the monthly
draft occurs.
• Those receiving financial assistance will be
automatically renewed at the end of its year
term. At this time membership will be renewed
at the new rate based on their gross income per
household.
• All Membership types can be placed on hold for
up to 5 months with no charge.
GUESTS
Guests may visit three times in a 12-month
period when accompanied by a member or
using a promotional Guest Pass. Guests must
bring a photo ID.

Through exercises designed to increase
muscular strength, range of movement, and
skills required during activities of daily
living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and

just SilverSneakers® members.

CHILD WATCH (AGES 6WKS-12YRS)
We offer age-appropriate child care services
to members and program participants while
they are participating in a YMCA program or
activity on-site. Individuals with Household
Memberships may use this service for their
children up to two hours per day at no charge.

CPR & FIRST AID TRAINING
The YMCA provides American Heart
Association CPR with AED and Basic First Aid
training for your workplace or organization
at a reasonable cost. Register for a class

Our Health and Wellness Staff is here to
motivate you and help you meet your fitness
goals. Our facility has a great selection of
cardio machines, strength training equipment,
free weights, and stretching areas. Group

Participants work with Y staff trained in supportive

We are here to help you meet your Fitness
Goals! During your one-on-one appointment,
a Wellness Coach will talk to you about
your fitness goals, help plan a workout,
and provide you with an orientation to the
equipment in the Wellness Center.
You will be able to record your workouts,
track your progress, and more. Follow-up
appointments are available and recommended
to help motivate you and stay on target with
your workout plan.

TEEN/PRE-TEEN WELLNESS
CENTER ORIENTATION
ATTENTION YOUTH AND TEENS: Do you
want to work out in the Wellness Center? If
you are between the ages of 11-15 you must
complete the teen certification prior to using
the Wellness Center. During this orientation
teens will learn proper use of both cardio
and basic strength equipment. A parent or
guardian must be in attendance during the
orientation. Only CERTIFIED teens, ages
14-15, may use the free-weight area with a

COMPETE TO LOSE
Do you need someone to motivate you and
learn how to develop a safe and effective
routine? Compete to Lose is an intense 7
week exercise program that will challenge
you, change your routine, and teach you
how to make healthier choices. 5 teams of
6-8 members will be established based on
workout schedules. Teams will meet once
weekly with a Certified Personal Trainer to
workout with their team, track their progress
through measurements of weight and body
composition, and learn valuable information to

YMCA DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
YMCA’S DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
In a classroom setting, a trained Lifestyle
Coach will help facilitate a small group of
participants in learning about healthier eating,
physical activity and other behavior changes.
Participants are led through 19 sessions over
the first 6 months of the program, followed by
6 sessions over the second 6 months.
Morning and evening classes are available.
Class sizes are limited. The goal of the
YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention program is to
help you reduce your risk of developing type
2 diabetes. Options for payment include: a
variety of grants, scholarships, third party
payers, and self-pay. For more information

YOUTH DANCE
We are pleased to present to you all the
YMCA dance company hosted by Balance &
Grace Dance Academy. BGDA is owned and ran
by Sha'Niece Phelps and Erica Ligon.
The dance company will be a structured
learning and development dance program for
youth member and non members of the YMCA.
Our passion for dance has inspired us to
dedicate our free time towards teaching this

well as the principles of fair play and good
sportsmanship. Participants will have one
practice day per week and games on Saturday.

the league is a FREE Pacer ticket to the
February 28th home game.

progress in Taekwondo. One of our goals for

for two hours once a week.

YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT
(Grades 8+) Students gain leadership skills
and learn how our Indiana State Government
works. The mock legislative program
takes place at the State Capitol building.
Participants meet weekly to write and
research bills and plan for the legislative event
in January. Fund raising is available to pay the
program fee. Contact the Jordan or Avondale
Meadows YMCA centers for further details.

The first Friday of each month bring your
family to the Pike Y in their jammies and join
