AP English Language and Composition 11 – 2013-2014 – Second Semester Syllabus
Notes:
1. All work is to be done on time and thoroughly, including reading. You are
responsible for understanding what you are assigned and for reading with
understanding.
2. Make up work, quizzes, and tests tend to be more exacting than those accomplished
on the assigned date.
3. If you are absent, it is up to you to find out what you missed. Arrange for someone to
take notes for you and/or to turn in assignments that are due.
4. Missed work and quizzes are to be made up within a maximum time of one week.
5. All written work is to be grammatically sound and to have the appropriate “header” at
the upper right of page 1.
6. Assigned reading is in The Norton Reader, (eleventh edition), unless otherwise stated,
bring your book to class every day.
7. Expect reading quizzes based on the “due” assignment regularly.
8. SAT Vocabulary is assigned and quizzed weekly.
9. Syllabus is subject to change.
10. Turning in books and journals is your way of saying that you have read the book
entirely. Do not turn in either until you have completed the assignment.
11. Athletes make up work before missing class for a practice or a game.
12. Long term assignments are due even if you are not here; make arrangements to have
the assignment delivered.
13. If you have a college day or planned absence, make up work before you go.
