IMPORTANT DATES
Oct-Nov: CEGEP & Vocational Center OPEN HOUSE DATES (see hand-out!)
March 1, 2015: Deadline to apply for CEGEP.
CEGEP REQUIREMENTS
Basic Requirements
Quebec Secondary School Diploma (SSD).
Specific Programs Prerequisites
 Look them up in school viewbooks or program pamphlets!

Look them up online Every school has a website with all the program info!

Having prerequisites DOES NOT guarantee admission into a program. Every
program has a limited number of spaces. Conditional acceptance is based on
academic performance in grade 10 and term one of grade 11. Final acceptance is
based on you completing grade 11 with the same marks or better.

Aim for 75%+ for Social Science and 85%+ for Health or Pure & Applied Science.
Other Possible Cegep Requirements
Audition, portfolio (see CEGEP info for details), interview, letter of intent, reference
letters, etc.
CEGEP APPLICATION DEADLINE & PROCESS
When do I apply and how?
Deadline:
March 1st, 2015 (Outside Quebec: February 1st, 2015) for a fall semester start.
Application process: Online applications become available in mid-January 2015.
I will be visiting your classes again to explain the process in January.
Just keep in mind that you will be applying to at least 2 different CEGEPS
There are 2 different online application systems for public schools:
1) SRAM: Service Régional d’Admissions de Montréal.
2) CAS: Common Application System
2
@BAGuidance2014
SRAM SYSTEM
How does the SRAM online system work?
You apply to 1 program at 1 of the following schools:




Vanier College
John Abbott College
Champlain College (Lennoxville)
30+ French CEGEPS
Although you may only apply to 1 program through SRAM, there are 3 ROUNDS.
What are rounds?
You apply to make a ROUND 1 choice by the March 1st, 2015 deadline. You will
receive documentation via mail in late March to early April with a decision. If you
are refused in round 1, the documentation you receive will include a list of the
programs that still have space for ROUND 2. The deadline by which to make your
round 2 choice will be included as well as instructions on how to do so online.
Example: You apply to Professional Theatre at John Abbott College in Round 1.
You get refused. You see that there is still space in Social Science at John Abbott
but would prefer not to travel all that way for a program offered at Vanier. You
apply to Social Science at Vanier for Round 2.
C.A.S.
How does the CAS online system work?
You make a 1st and 2nd choice at the following schools:


Dawson College
Champlain College (St. Lambert).
Your options with a 1st and 2nd choice via CAS are the following:
1. Same program at two different colleges
2. Two different programs at two different colleges
3. Two different programs at the same college
If you are accepted in your first choice program, you will not be evaluated for your
2nd choice program. Therefore, select 1st and 2nd choices carefully!
3
@BAGuidance2014
PRIVATE COLLEGES & SCHOOLS OUTSIDE QC
You can also apply to MARIANOPOLIS COLLEGE since the college has its own
online application system. You can make a 1st & 2nd choice program.
Other Private Colleges (e.g., O’Sullivan College & Lasalle College have their own
admission process online) See school websites for details.
Schools outside of Quebec: Deadline is usually January 31, 2015 but application
dates vary. Check the school websites!
CONTINUING EDUCATION
What if I am missing CEGEP program prerequisites?
You can upgrade your high school math and/or science through CEGEP evening
classes prior to applying to a program.



Math upgrades at the Sec 4 & 5 levels (i.e., CST Math  Enriched Math)
Sec 4 Science upgrade (i.e., Science & Tech  Environmental Science & Tech.)
Chemistry, Physics
What if I was refused because my grades were not strong enough?
You can redo a high school class or take one or more core CEGEP classes in
Continuing Education to prove yourself to the school and then re-apply.
*See me for more info on Continuing Education!
UPGRADING MATH
Can I upgrade my high school level math classes within a daytime CEGEP
program?
