Platform Tennis Seeks Players
The Florham Park men’s platform tennis team is looking for new players to join the
team. Platform tennis is a cross between regular tennis and racquetball, with a
playable screen around the entire court (approximately a quarter of the size of a
conventional tennis court). The sport is typically played only in the fall, winter, and
early spring. Emmett Park, part of the borough’s municipal complex is home to two
elevated enclosed courts that are maintained by the Recreation Department. New
team players do not need to be experts or even have prior experience playing
platform tennis. The team is simply seeking players with an interest in the game, as
well as some familiarity with playing racquet sports. The team practices on Monday
and Wednesday nights. Matches against teams from surrounding towns are usually
played on Saturday mornings. Clinics will be held on Tuesday and/or Thursday
evenings, if there are enough interested beginner players. For more information,
please contact the Florham Park Recreation Department at (973) 410-5390.
