Marvin Wagner is a small businessman, retired civil servant, Vietnamā€era veteran, devoted family man, and experienced problem solver committed to the future of Charleston and her residents. A lifelong West Ashley resident, Marvin is the owner of M. D. Wagner, Inc. – an executive tax and bookkeeping firm serving other Charleston small businesses and residents for over 30 years. A graduate of St. Andrews High School and Charleston Southern University, Marvin retired as Resource Management Flight Chief at the Charleston Air Force Base after 32 years of civil service. During his tenure, Marvin received Meritorious Civilian Service Awards from both the Department of the Navy and the Department of the Air Force. Knowing firsthand what it means to sacrifice in tough times — Marvin worked multiple jobs to provide the opportunity for a better future for his two children, including serving as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at Trident Technical College for 20 years. He knows that government should act no differently in these tough times. A strong believer in a smaller, more efficient government—Marvin will utilize his professional accounting experience to cut wasteful government spending and protect core government services. Committed to enhancing our city for his children, grandchildren and our children—Marvin will put his business experience to work for us by selling Charleston as a premier business destination, so our neighbors can get back to work. Knowing that having the proper infrastructure to sustain business development is crucial—Marvin will support continued structured growth while also fighting for traffic improvements on our main roads. A respected member of the Better Business Bureau, American Legion, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the ELKS, and a former Charleston Jaycee – Marvin’s community involvement and service also includes coaching youth football and umpiring youth baseball games on Johns Island. Marvin is the devoted husband of 40 years to the former Ellen Donaldson, the proud father of two sons in law enforcement, and the energetic grandfather of four. Ellen and Marvin live in Carolina Bay.
