3 4 NBA Lockout Exhibition Commercial Script 60 second duration To be aired specifically on sports television networks in the weeks leading up to the exhibition. Scene-‐ Staples Center-‐Los Angeles, California. 1. Shot opens up at half-‐court of a professional basketball arena to completely sold out crowd, the lights on, the music blasting, fans in general going nuts in anticipation of the game. 2. Professional basketball player Kobe Bryant leads his team out onto the court from the locker room, fully dressed in uniform in preparation for a game. The opposing team does the same. 3. Teams begin running, stretching, and shooting the basketball following the routine of an athlete preparing for competition. 4. The shot clock runs down leading up to the 7PM game time. 5…4…3…2…1… BUZZER! 5. The teams take one final sip of Gatorade, and all gather at half-‐court, shaking hands with one-‐another wishing each other the best of luck. 6. Light bulbs from cameras are flashing as the anxiously awaited tip ball and start to the game is a mere seconds away. 7. The ball is thrown up, the game is officially underway, and the crowd roars. 8. Just before the basketball is touched, everything goes black. The lights are turned off, the crowd is non-‐existent, and the loud roars turn to dead silence. 9. The only person left in the scene now is Kobe Bryant, as he stands on the court with his hands on his hips staring at the ground. 10. The basketball is heard dribbling away in the background until it is no longer in sight. 11. A voice-‐over asks “Can you imagine a life without basketball? The stadium is domed (with retractable roof) and home to the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys franchise. Seating capacity for a football venue is 80,000, but can hold as many as 110,000 with standing room and party pass sections filled. The $1.3 billion stadium is the largest domed venue in the stadium in the world, and has a few incredible features that can be found in the design of no other venues. The biggest attraction about the stadium is the 80 yard long high definition video screen. Initially, Dallas Cowboy team personnel feared the screen was too big and would interfere in game action (fortunately this has been a non-‐issue). Other than hosting Dallas Cowboys home football games, Cowboys Stadium has been the venue selection for many other sports and entertainment such as: -‐

We would like to say thanks to anyone who helped make this possible! 8 About the Charity Motto: “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” The Boys and Girls Club of America (also known as BCGA) was founded in 1860 in Hartford, Connecticut. The official name of the charity organization had changed multiple times over the last 150 years, before finally settling on “Boys and Girls Club of America” in 1990. With every passing year, the club is becoming more and more popular in the American’s public eye, which is leading to a healthier, better, more successful life for young children all around the country. As of 2010, here is how some of the statistics break down: 55% are male
45% are female.
• 65% are from minority families
• 5% are 5 years old and under
• 43% are 6–10 years old
• 19% are 11–12 years old
• 21% are 13–15 years old
• 12% are 16–18 years old

The athletes in the NBA have made a commitment to the children over the years, and spend an incredible amount of time, effort, and dedication into giving back. For many kids, spending time with their NBA heroes means more to them than anything else they have in their life. We would like to celebrate the players and the organization together tonight. (Image sources – BGCA) 9 Starting Lineups Team LeBron LeBron James (captain) – Small Forward, Miami Heat 6’8/250 lb/age 26 LeBron James is widely considered the best player in the NBA. At 6’8 250 pounds, he is almost impossible to matchup with defensively. He is a seven-‐time NBA all-‐star and two time NBA MVP (most valuable player). Nicknamed “King James,” LeBron has drawn comparisons to the game’s best player ever, Michael Jordan. Dwyane Wade-‐ Shooting Guard, Miami Heat 6’4/220 lb/age 29 A teammate of James in Miami, Wade has surpassed Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant as the most feared shooting guard in the league. Wade is best known for his remarkable clutch shots and play-‐making ability. Wade is a seven-‐time NBA all-‐star, a scoring champion, and most importantly, a NBA champion (2006). Chris Paul-‐ Point Guard, New Orleans Hornets 6’0/175 lb/age 26 Chris Paul is one if, if not the best overall point guard in the NBA today. With a uncanny ability to blow by defenders, Paul is the protégé point guard. He has the skill to make any defender look foolish, and often does. Paul is a four-‐time NBA all-‐star. Chris Bosh-‐ Power Forward, Miami Heat 6’11/235 lb/age 27 Bosh is the third member of the Miami Heat’s “big 3.” The tall and lanky forward possesses incredible touch and shooting range for a big man, and continues to grow into a force in the paint. Bosh is a six-‐time NBA all-‐star. Dwight Howard-‐ Center, Orlando Magic 6’11/265 lb/age 25 In a league that seemingly has lost all its true powerful centers, Dwight Howard is the only one dominating. Arguably the most physically dominant player in the league, Howard continues to be the best defender in the league while growing into his offensive prime as well. Howard is a five-‐time NBA all-‐star and three-‐time NBA defensive player of the year award winner. 10 Team Kobe Kobe Bryant (captain) – Shooting guard, Los Angeles Lakers 6’6/205 lb/age 33 Without question the most accomplished player in the league today, Bryant still continues to dominate in his fifteenth season. Bryant possesses a pure all-‐around game and is easily regarded as one of the most clutch players in league history. Bryant is a thirteen-‐time NBA all-‐
star, two-‐time NBA scoring champion, and five time NBA champion. Carmelo Anthony – Small forward, New York Knicks 6’8/225 lb/age 27 Similar to LeBron James in build, Anthony has developed into one of the game’s best. While still somewhat of a liability on the defensive end of the floor, he is consistently in the top five in scoring in the league. Carmelo is a four-‐time NBA all-‐star. Deron Williams – Point guard, New Jersey Nets 6’3/205 lb/age 27 If Chris Paul isn’t the best point guard in the NBA, Williams is. His unique size for a point guard is what makes him difficult to defend and has the best passing ability of any guard. Williams is a two-‐time NBA all-‐star. Amar’e Stoudemire-‐ Power forward, New York Knicks 6’10/240 lb/age 28 Stoudemire has the most offensive potential in the league at the power forward position. His size and strength make him difficult to defend for any player and he is a very underrated passer as well. Stoudemire is a six-‐time NBA all-‐star. Blake Griffin-‐ Power forward, Los Angeles Clippers 6’10/251 lb/age 22 Fresh off a rookie of the year award, Griffin is by far the youngest star in tonight’s game. He has quickly made a name for himself with his thunderous dunks and offense. The man sells tickets by himself for the show he puts on the court. Griffin was a NBA all-‐star his rookie season. 11 National Basketball Players Association 310 Lenox Avenue New York, NY 10027 September 30th, 2011 Mr. Jerry Jones 900 E Randol Mill Road Arlington, Texas 76011 Dear Mr. Jones, We are pleased to announce the NBA lockout exhibition was a booming success. We would like to take the time to thank you for your generosity in allowing us to hold the game at the beautiful Cowboys Stadium facility. It was a priority from the start to hold the game at a venue that went above and beyond all expectations, and thanks to your efforts we have accomplished that. The exhibition ultimately helped raise an incredible amount of money, roughly $12 million. We would like to personally thank you, as well as the players and the fans, who all played a role in making this achievement possible. All of the hard work put into this event is already paying dividends. The Boys and Girls Club of America benefited most. The lives of thousands of young children around the country have already begun to change for the better. Once again, we would like to thank you for your role in the exhibition. Without you, this would not have been possible. We are hopeful that the league’s players and owners will come to a resolution soon so all fans can enjoy the NBA once again. With gratitude, National Basketball Players Association
