District Nursing in the Digital Age
A one day conference on new technology
Monday 16 February 2015
Welcome
There has never been a more exciting time for District Nurses to be engaging with the digital
world. There are new opportunities opening up which promise improved care of our patients,
their families and carers. Many of these are already proving to bring a greater satisfaction too
in working practices within District Nursing teams – such as freeing up more time to care and
reducing the number of times records are written for different systems.
The event today aims to bring together and showcase a variety of digital innovations to enable
sharing and learning amongst the District Nursing community. For many this event will provide
an inspiring, accelerated learning experience - with an opportunity to meet those District Nurse
teams who have engaged with the digital initiatives in practice for some time.
The event is wide-ranging – covering a presentation on sharing with patients their digital records
held in General Practice, through to the exploration of a range of digital demand and capacity tools
to assist with caseload allocation and workforce planning – and the launch of the twitter community ‘WeDistrictNurses’.
The response to the event has been overwhelming – indicating a huge demand from the District Nursing community
to engage with the innovations enabled by the digital world. We have been unable to accommodate everyone who
wished for a place at the event, so we are going to film and edit each of the presentations to enable even more District
Nurses to share and learn with colleagues and teams after the event. The film will be available via the QNI website from
the first week of March.
We very much hope that you will enjoy the day and the opportunity to meet new contacts. We hope that the time
taken out of practice will inspire you to think differently about the digital opportunities for District Nursing and the
communities you serve.
