In Our Own Voices describes the Say It Loud! Black and Latino Gay Pride celebration: “The
importance of Say It Loud! is obvious. It is an opportunity for LGBT POC to come
together in solidarity, to celebrate our individuality, diversity and strengths.” For

2014 Family-Friendly Pride Events in
Binghamton, NY*
Sunday, June 1 (11:30 AM)
Pride Community Picnic | 183 Riverside Drive, Binghamton NY
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Binghamton will be holding its annual Pride
Community Picnic, and all are welcome! The picnic will feature a cookout and children’s
activities, all during a lovely afternoon spent on the grounds of the UUCB church. Burgers, hot
dogs and rolls will be provided (as well as paper goods). Folks are asked to bring side dishes,
desserts, etc., to share. This event is a great way to relax, meet other families, and begin the
celebration of Pride Month!

Rainbow Flag Raising| City Hall, Binghamton
One of our favorite local traditions! Join with us and with Mayor David as we come together as
a community to raise the Rainbow Flag high in celebration of Pride Month.

People of Blessing Interfaith Service | Temple Concord, 9 Riverside Drive, Binghamton NY
The interfaith service is a very special part of the Binghamton area’s Pride celebrations.
Various faith leaders come together with lay people to share an evening of fellowship, support
and warmth as we experience the blessing of a vibrant, unified community. Claudia and Karen
from Pride and Joy Families will be speaking at this year’s service! We hope you’ll join us.

Binghamton Pride Palooza | Court Street (Between Collier and State Streets)
Binghamton Pride Coalition’s Annual Pride Palooza is not to be missed! This year’s event,
which has extended hours, will feature dozens of local vendors, live entertainment, and a
children’s area staffed by Pride and Joy Families. The Ross Park Zoo-mobile will be coming,
bringing plenty of fun and excitement for kids and parents alike. Come celebrate your local
community!

Film Screening/Discussion: Cloudburst | Art Mission Theatre, 61 Prospect Avenue, Binghamton
Starring Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker, Cloudburst tells the story of an aging lesbian
couple that embarks on a “Thelma and Louise”-style journey to get married in Canada. At
turns comic and heartbreaking, the film is a beautifully wrought tale of love, change, and life.
After the film we will have a discussion led by Dr. Dara Silberstein, Executive Director, Women,
Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program at Binghamton University. Event sponsored by
WGSS and the Lesbian and Gay Family Building Project/Pride and Joy Families.

Teen Pride Prom | Identity Youth Center, 206 State Street, Binghamton NY
This event is open to youth ages 14-20, although their dates may be outside that age range.
