Datasheet Rev A. SEP 12. Crystal Spectrum Monitoring & Recording • Provides auto-anomaly detection and notification (eg. audible, visual, via email) to draw immediate attention to and resolution of a serious problem • Offers a flexible, affordable approach to spectrum monitoring while still providing the user a full set of monitoring tools. • Is vendor agnostic: Advantest®, Agilent®, Anritsu®, Dominion Test Instruments® (DTI), LP Technologies®, Narda®, Rohde and Schwarz®, and Tektronix® are all supported. • Provides a common interface overlay to multiple spectrum analyser types (the user sees the same easy-to-use interface whether controlling an Agilent or an LP Tech SA). Example of Summary View of Carriers Being Monitored With Crystal Solutions Spectrum Monitoring, users may • Take the first step to eliminate carrier interference: once one has archived interference data, patterns can be identified - a vital step along the path to ultimate interference resolution. • Automatically capture irrefutable evidence of interference. Armed with this evidence, one can command (from a satellite service provider) the attention your problem deserves. • Tailor the user interface (UI) - Crystal understands that systems need to be customized to give one just the information and operator presentation to best suit the application needs. No longer must operations be shoe-horned into a ‘one-size-fits-all’ application. SEP 12. ‘Virtual’ Spectrum Analysers - VSAs SMR allows installations to multiply the power of a single (or small number) of physical Spectrum Analysers into a large number of Virtual Spectrum Analysers, or VSAs. It does this by using a combination of software and RF switching hardware. Thus, a user may continually monitor 6 or 7 distinct carriers, without manual intervention, all using a single Spec An. Virtual remote control interfaces for command of a VSA can be accessed simultaneously. Scenario: an operator at an Atlanta facility where the Crystal Solutions Spectrum Monitoring-enabled Spec An is located. That operator will operate the Spec An through the Crystal Solutions web browser interface. An operator at a London, UK facility wishes to operate this same Spec An. That operator will operate the Spec An through a VSA web interface. In similar fashion, that same Atlanta-located Spec An can be operated from any location (provided connectivity, permissions, and licenses allow). SEP 12. Monitor and Priority VSAs SMR divides VSAs into Monitoring and Priority. Up to 10 Monitor VSAs may be active at one time, and a useful ‘thumbnail’ screen is provided to allow the status of all of them to be viewed simultaneously. Priority VSAs are for conditions that require dynamic, in depth analysis of a carrier. Priority VSAs are given prioritized ‘time slices’ over Monitoring VSAs. Crystal Solutions Spectrum Monitoring is enabled with three (3) Priority VSAs. As an option, more VSAs may be added to Crystal Solutions Spectrum Monitoring. VSA windows can, with a single mouse-click, show or hide all the Spec An controls and readings. Trace windows can be re-sized to view as a thumbnail or larger (see example at top right-hand side of this page for and example of thumbnail view). At right is a trace-only view with controls hidden while the photo immediately above shows the view with full Spec An control and readings. SEP 12. User-configured Alarming Limits Crystal Solutions Spectrum Monitoring alarm configuration portal is flexible, full-featured, and intuitive: • Flexible: Configure carrier limits on a large number of carriers for both MCPC (Multiple Channels Per Carrier) and, optionally, SCPC (Single Channel Per Carrier) applications. • Full-featured: • Supports up to eight alarm limits per carrier, limits may be individually designated as major or minor alarms, or even temporarily masked. • Each limit can be configured to notify selected users via email. • Intuitive: Capture a reference for each carrier and describe the limits in dB of deviation from the reference. These user-configurable limits yield immediate notification upon limit breach, via: • audible operator annunciation • email of carrier and fault condition • visually Sandpiper House, Aviary Court, Wade Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG24 8GX, UK T +44 (0) 1256 812 222 F +44 (0) 1256 812 666 E sales@sematron.com www.sematron.com Making waves... Datasheet Rev A. SEP 12. Recorded Traces Monitoring VSAs may be configured to continuously record their traces or to record only 'On Anomalies'. When recording On Anomaly, SMR includes a configurable amount of 'pre-incident' traces to allow one to see the conditions that led up to the anomaly. Recorded traces are stored until cleared or transferred. Crystal Solutions Spectrum Monitoring play-out interface includes: • leap-to-anomaly: Users need not endure the drudgery of viewing minutes of trace recordings in search of an anomalous blip. • frame-by-frame advancing: Capture even the most brief of interference events. • export of the recording: Export (eg. to avi format) and email to satellite provider to immediately communicate the evidence they need to see. Reports SMR includes complete, user defined report generating capability. The VSA (channel) of interest is user selectable, as are the parameters (carrier Signal to Noise, error incidents, etc.). Beginning and ending timeframes of interest are also user selectable. Reports are produced in ready printable form, and may also be exported to CSV (comma separated value) format for use within spreadsheets.
