Joint Select Committee on
Greyhound Racing In Tasmania
Wednesday, 29 April 2015
Public notices have been placed in all three major Tasmanian newspapers
today, inviting submissions to the Joint House Parliamentary Inquiry into the
greyhound racing industry.
Committee Chair, Cassy O'Connor MP, said “all Tasmanians who have an interest
in the greyhound racing industry are invited to make a submission."
“We would like to hear from people and organisations who have evidence they
believe should come before the Inquiry, or a particular perspective on aspects of
the industry," Ms O'Connor said.
“For people with important information who may be concerned about the
possible implications of presenting this information, we can take submissions and
evidence in confidence."
"This Inquiry is an opportunity to examine the greyhound racing industry in
Tasmania and associated animal welfare issues and to address community
concerns about the industry."
"As Committee members we will examine submissions received, hear evidence
and present recommendations to government."
Closing date for submissions is 12 June, with hearings to be conducted in July
and August.
The Committee will report to Parliament by 30 October this year.
