Media Release Joint Select Committee on Greyhound Racing In Tasmania Wednesday, 29 April 2015 Public notices have been placed in all three major Tasmanian newspapers today, inviting submissions to the Joint House Parliamentary Inquiry into the greyhound racing industry. Committee Chair, Cassy O'Connor MP, said “all Tasmanians who have an interest in the greyhound racing industry are invited to make a submission." “We would like to hear from people and organisations who have evidence they believe should come before the Inquiry, or a particular perspective on aspects of the industry," Ms O'Connor said. “For people with important information who may be concerned about the possible implications of presenting this information, we can take submissions and evidence in confidence." "This Inquiry is an opportunity to examine the greyhound racing industry in Tasmania and associated animal welfare issues and to address community concerns about the industry." "As Committee members we will examine submissions received, hear evidence and present recommendations to government." Closing date for submissions is 12 June, with hearings to be conducted in July and August. The Committee will report to Parliament by 30 October this year.
