THE
T HE G REAT S TUPA
H OLY R ELICS T OUR
HOL Y RELICS TOUR
The sacred Buddhist relics on view at the national Great Stupa Holy R e l i c s To u r c o m e
from the vast collection of relics that have been offered to the Great Stupa of U n i v e r s a l
Compassion currently being built near Bendigo, Victoria. These sacred relics have
already been viewed by tens of thousands in Singapore, Malaysia, Auckland, and
Sydney.
Items on display include relics of historical Buddhist figures such as Padmasambhav a
who brought Buddhism from India to Tibet; historical Buddhas including Sakyamuni
Buddha; past Dalai Lamas; and venerated Chinese, Tibetan, Vietnamese and Thai
Buddhist teachers and practitioners.
Buddhists believe that contemplating and respecting relics and what they repre s e n t
purifies our minds and creates the causes for enlightenment. Non-Buddhists also
benefit from this activity.
The relics will be on display every day at Langri Tangpa Centre from 26 October - 3
November 2007 where they will be a focus of ceremony and veneration for Buddhists
of all cultural backgrounds from across south-east Queensland. Non-Buddhists are also
invited to view the relics and find out more about their history and significance .

The other category of relic displayed on the tour is the ringsel. Buddhists believe
that these small, crystalline, pearl-like deposits appear within the ashes when

Even in these days, holy beings are still manifesting relics. Several relics in the
Great Stupa Holy R elic collec tion have been produced in the last ten years. For
example, Geshe Lama Konchog from Nepal, whose heart relic is included in the
