Activities:
1. Based on the discussions yesterday about the similarities and differences between Socs and Greasers, students
will give examples of famous people that they think fit into each category using www.polleverywhere.com.
Discuss the different people that everybody suggests.
2. Students will also be given the chance to respond to the free response question – We focus a lot on the
differences between the ‘Socs’ and the ‘Greasers’, but what are some similarities you see in the beginning of The
Outsiders?
3. Students will work in groups of 3, using one laptop or their own technology, and fill in the elements of a
narrative outline, using http://typewith.me.
4. As students collaborate, they type in their answers and see how they compare with each others.
5. Once each group puts in their comments, there will be a class discussion about the different group answers.
This discussion will allow for other groups and the teacher to modify and improve their answers like adding
details and thoughts to support their statements.
