questions:
 Ponyboy compares himself to Pip, the main
character in Dickens’s Great Expectations. People
think less of Pip because he is poor. Why does
Ponyboy compare himself to Pip?

A flashback occurs in chapter 2 about Johnny
Cade’s past. Reread the scene that begins on pg.
30. What violence has Johnny experienced at
home and during the Soc attack, and how has this
violence changed Johnny?
Pony explains that people think of Greasers as
delinquents. Define delinquent. What do the
Greasers do to make people think of them this
way? Use the word delinquent in your R.A.C.E.
response.
