Admission Changes for Students Applying to HAAS in November 2011, Entering HAAS in Fall 2012. 1. Applicants will be required to take 2 semesters (3 quarters) of calculus. 2. The Literature/Writing requirement will not be required. 3. Breadth will not be required for admission; breadth will become a graduation requirement. COLLEGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN Please see Information – College of Environmental Design, and the individual major agreements for additions and clarifications, including the following: Architecture majors must complete the following: 1. Environmental Design 1, 11A, and 11B 2. English R1A and R1B (covered by IGETC certification beginning fall 2011) 3. Math 16A and 16B or 1A and 1B 4. Physics 7A or 8A 5. All additional breadth requirements (or IGETC certification, beginning fall 2011). See the breadth section of the Architecture major within ASSIST. Landscape Architecture majors must complete the following: 1. Environmental Design 1, 11A, and 11B 2. English R1A and R1B (covered by IGETC certification, beginning fall 2011) 3. EPS 50, EPS 80, or ENV SCI 10 + 10L 4. Biology 1B, Biology 11 + 11L or ESPM 6 5. All additional breadth requirements (or IGETC certification, beginning fall 2011). NOTE: Effective Fall 2012 AP scores for Biology and Math will not satisfy the Integrative Biology major prerequisite. ----------------------------------------------------------------------Although this major requires only one semester of calculus, it is strongly recommended that students continue with the sequence, particularly if they intend to pursue studies in graduate or professional school. Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, B.A. A reminder that the notice regarding Math 55 is now in effect: Effective Fall 2010, Math 55 (Discrete Mathematics) is a lower-division requirement for the Mathematics and Applied Mathematics majors. However, Math 55 is not required for admission. If your college offers an articulated course we will accept it, however, we recommend that you complete MATH 55 at Berkeley in your first semester.
