I am delighted to see the International Trade & Industry Fair "ITIF Asia" coming up for
the 5th consecutive year at the Karachi Expo Centre.
Karachi is the industrial hub of Pakistan and therefore needs special attention. The City
District Government Karachi is doing its best to transform this shattered city of yesteryears
into a fully developed cosmopolitan city of tomorrow at par with any other mega city
of the world.
Recently, several flyovers and underpasses were completed and commissioned, while
others are in progress. Karachi Elevated Expressway Project, Karachi Mass Transit Project,
Karachi Elevated Train Service Project are also planned to be initiated in 5 sectors of the
city. With development of mega projects of Beach and Islands at par with international
standards by reclaiming land from the sea including a 1947 ft. high sky scraper, Housing,
Roads, Textile City, Industrial Parks, 500-600 CNG Buses, Power Generation Projects (to
overcome the power shortage), Recreational Projects etc. God Willing, Karachi will regain
its past glory and would get a prominent status not only in the region but also attain
a higher stature in the world.

Entry to the Exhibition
Over 100,000 Corporate Invitation Passes are sent to businessmen, corporate managers
and decision managers all over Pakistan and abroad to invite corporate visitors to this
grand event. Corporate visitors are expected to bring the invitation passes with them at
the time of entry to the exhibition. Anyone without the Corporate Invitation Passes will
not be allowed to enter the Expo Centre premises.
Parking
The parking for the Trade/Corporate visitors have been arranged within the premises
of the Expo Centre. They can park their vehicle in the parking area at their own risk .
Main Information Desk and Help Desks
Main Information Desk is situated in the foyer of the Karachi Expo Centre. The staff
at the Main Information Desk would assist you with any information that you may need
at the exhibition. Help desks are also available at the mezzanine floors in all the three
exhibition halls.
Food Courts
Food courts have been established at a number of locations in the expo center during
ITIF Asia. An Executive Food Court has been established at a convenient location at
the Expo Centre. Please note that no eatables or drinkables are allowed inside the
exhibition area.

Prayers Area
A small prayers area is also established at the mezzanine floor of the congress center.
Smoking
Smoking is strictly not allowed within the premises of the Expo Center.
Hospitality Suites
The Hospitality suites are situated on the second floor of the congress center. The senior
executives of the exhibiting companies may use the hospitality suites for business
meetings.
Press and Media Center
The Press and Media Center, situated at the first floor of the Congress Center, is the
focal point for disseminating information about the happenings of the event to the world.
Emergency
In case of any emergency, please contact the staff at the Main Information Desk in the
congress center.
Medical & First Aid
First aid treatment can be obtained from the Main Information Desk in the Congress
Center.
Fire Precautions
The exhibition halls are equipped with fire extinguishers and fire hoses.

Lost and found counter is formed at the Main Information Desk of the Congress Center.
Canvassing and Publicity
Distribution of all types of sales and promotional material, in any form, outside the
confines of exhibition stands is strictly prohibited and in any such case, the right of
expulsion will at once be exercised.
Prohibitions
The organizers reserve the right to order the expulsion of any person whose conduct,
in their opinion, renders such a course of action appropriate. Lighting fire, smoking,
carrying harmful articles or creating disturbances in exhibition halls is strictly disallowed.

Introduction:
Alternative Energy Development Board
(AEDB) was established on 12th May 2003.
The mandate of AEDB is to undertake
development of medium and long term national
plans and policies, promotional and
dissemination activities in the field of
Renewable Energy Technologies; and to
facilitate power generation through alternative
or renewable energy resources by acting as a
one window facility for establishing,
promoting and facilitating alternative or
renewable energy projects based on wind,
solar, micro-hydel, fuel cells, tidal, ocean, bio
gas, bio mass etc.
Alternative Energy Development Board has
been established to promote all
environmentally friendly renewable energy
resources that have not been developed in the
country due mainly to absence of a high level
national body. Since its inception the most
important accomplishment of the Board has
been the creation of realization amongst
decision makers regarding importance of
utilization of these resources in the country.
This accomplishment has been equally
rigorously pursued with private investors who
have already committed more than Rs 200
millions in development of projects based on
these technologies with potential investment of
$5 billions. Public Sector Development
Program of the country has always included
several projects to give acceleration to
alternative renewable energy technologies in
the country.
Background:
Alternative Energy Development Board
(AEDB) is a statutory autonomous body
attached to the Ministry of Water & Power. The
honorable President and the Prime Minister
have assigned the following targets to AEDB in
a meeting held on 15th February 2005 on the
Energy Security Action Plan: Development of
wind and solar energy to ensure that at least 5%
of total power generation capacity is met
through these resources by 2030 (i.e. 9700
MW). Alternative Energy Development Board
to ensure the installation of 100 MW wind
power by June 2006 at Keti Bandar and Gharo,
Sindh and 700 MW by 2010. Solar products
like solar lights, solar fans, solar cooker, solar
geyser, etc. must be developed through private
sector on top priority. Laws and taxes designed
to encourage self energy generation by
domestic sector like use of solar heating, solar
geyser etc. Promote efficient cooking stoves
(chullas) in villages to conserve fuel wood.
Rigorous international campaigns have
brought leading technology developers from all
parts of the world to provide there technologies
in the country. The most significant program is
rural electrification program of the country in
that more than 25,000 homes LU have to be
electrified with solar energy in next few years.

Chartered Bank (Dubai), Access Bank (USA),
German Development Bank (KfW), and

There are now 39 company owned and

Loyalty Cards
In July 2002, a novel concept was introduced to
reward customers for their loyalty and
patronage towards the company through ‘PSO
Loyalty Card’. These cards paved the way for

today, over 150,000 Loyalty Cards have been
issued and customers are enjoying the world of
benefits and privileges. After the successful
launch of Loyalty Cards, in February 2003 PSO
launched its fuel-based credit cards for the
business entities, namely ‘Fleet Card’, which
are vehicle-specific and bear the vehicle
registration number and Company name and

recently re-launched its Fleet Management
Solution (FMS) providing the Fleet/HR

The first half FY 08 results recently announced
by PSO showed ever-improving financial
fundamentals and unprecedented corporate
performance. Overall PSO market share of 70
percent during the first half FY08 is the
highest-ever for seven years. PSO sales
revenue increased to Rs 248 billion versus Rs
198 billion during the same period last year.
After tax earnings for the 1HFY08 were Rs 5.5
billion versus Rs 1.1 billion in the comparative
