ESL LITERACY COURSES - Levels Pre CLB - 2
ESL LITERACY
This course teaches the basics of reading, grammar practice and writing,
speaking and listening to inspire and prepare learners for daily life.
Learners will learn basic math and language skills.
ENGLISH FOR BEGINNERS
This is a multilevel language course where all four skills are taught.
Learners learn different topics for daily activities,including vocabulary
and pronunciation. Basic/High Basic Grammar and dialogues are
practiced along with reading and basic writing.
ESL BASIC COURSES - Levels 1-4
BASIC ENGLISH
This language course is for basic level learners who want to improve
their English. Learners learn to speak, read and write English for daily
activities. Learners do basic grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
activities.
EVERYDAY ENGLISH
This language course is for basic level learners who want to learn,
speak, read and write English for daily activities. Learners complete
basic reading, writing, and grammar activities and practice vocabulary
and pronunciation for everyday life.
ESL 1-2
This language course is for basic level learners who want to learn,
speak, read and write English for daily activities. Learners learn basic
grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
IMPROVING YOUR ENGLISH
Learners will improve reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
for everyday situations.
ESL 2-3
In this course, learners will practice reading, writing, listening and
speaking. This course will help improve vocabulary and pronunciation
skills.
ESL 2-4
Learners will improve their grammar, listening, speaking and writing
skills by doing exercises, and participating in conversations.
LISTENING & SPEAKING for BEGINNERS
In this class, learners are able to practice listening and speaking
skills. Learners also practice basic pronunciation and problem
sounds.
BASIC 4 SKILLS
This is a basic 4 skills program that focuses on the development
of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will be
engaged in TASK BASED and REAL WORLD type activities that will allow
them to develop fluency at the basic level.
ESL INTERMEDIATE COURSES - Levels 3-5
ESL 3-5
This is a low intermediate English course focusing on listening, speaking,
reading and writing. This course teaches grammar and pronunciation.
Learners will also improve their vocabulary skills.
ESL 4-5
This is an intermediate English class focusing on listening, speaking,
reading and writing. This class teaches grammar and pronunciation.
Learners will also improve their vocabulary skills.
EVERYDAY ENGLISH 3-4
Learners will improve their grammar, reading, listening, speaking and
writing skills for everyday English use. Printed handouts, listening and
video materials are used in the classroom.
READING & WRITING
Learners will improve reading and writing skills for everyday life.
Learners will learn reading and writing strategies to improve their
English.
INTERMEDIATE 4 SKILLS
This is an intermediate 4 skills program that focuses on the
development of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
Learners will be engaged in TASK BASED and REAL WORLD type
activities that will allow them to develop fluency at the intermediate
level.
ESL ADVANCED COURSES - Levels 5+
ADVANCED CONVERSATION
This course teaches learners to advance their conversation skills.
Conversations are practiced using everyday topics or news events.
Learners practice advanced conversation in groups.
ADVANCED LISTENING & SPEAKING
This course teaches advanced conversation practice using proper
grammar and pronunciation. This course helps learners to become more
fluent in English. Learners can develop and improve listening skills for
work, study and daily routines.
ADVANCED SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
This course teaches listening, speaking, reading and writing at an
advanced level. There is a focus on correct grammar usage and
speaking fluency. Workplace communication is also a focus. The
course is a prerequisite for TOEFL & IELTS or a University or College
test.
ADVANCED VOCABULARY
This course teaches advanced vocabulary that can be used in a
variety of situations. Learners will be able to use new vocabulary in
different life and at work situations.

ESL ADVANCED COURSES - Levels 5+

ADVANCING YOUR ENGLISH
This course will help learners improve speaking, listening, reading and
writing skills to an advanced level. Learners will study common English
idioms and expressions as well as slang forms of the language. A brief
introduction to academic English is also included in the lessons.
ESL 6-8
This is an advanced course focused on improving and practicing
spoken English and writing skills. Learners will practice their listening
and speaking skills. A variety of difficult English grammar will be
examined and practiced to improve and advance writing skills.
ADVANCED 4 SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
This course teaches advanced conversation practice using proper
grammar and pronunicaiton in a variety of meaningful contexts.
Learners can develop and improve all four skills (listening, speaking,
reading & writing) for daily use, which will help in becoming more fluent
in English.
ESL 7-9
This course is high advanced and helps learners progress in speaking,
reading, listening and writing. The use of radio, newspapers, and
television are used to improve language skills. Conversation activities
focus on different topics to help learners communicate in English.
Pre-academic texts are used to teach speaking, listening, reading and
writing.
READING & WRITING
Learners will improve reading & writing skills for everyday life. Learners
will learn reading and writing strategies to improve their English.
EVERYDAY ENGLISH
Learners will improve their English by practicing advanced level
vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking activities.
IMPROVING YOUR ENGLISH
Learners will be able to improve their English by practicing listening,
speaking, reading and writing. This course teaches advanced level
English. Learners will be able to advance their grammar, vocabulary
and idioms.
ESL 5-6
This class will help learners develop and improve speaking, listening,
reading and writing skills. Learners will study common English idioms
and expressions as well as slang forms of the language.
ESL ACADEMIC PREPARATION COURSES - Levels 6-9

course is for learners who want to enroll in academic courses.
ACADEMIC LISTENING AND SPEAKING FOR IELTS
This course is an advanced listening and speaking course which provides
an opportunity for learners to learn and practice the skills needed for
listening and speaking on a variety of academic themes and topics
as frequently selected for academic IELTS with a minimum band score
of 7 – 7.5 requirement. The course will emphasize common grammar
and vocabulary errors in IELTS, pronunciation features of English and
problematic aspects of connected speech that lead to the absence of
precision in listening comprehension.
ACADEMIC READING & WRITING FOR IELTS
This course is an advanced academic reading and writing course which
provides an opportunity for learners to learn and practice the skills
needed for reading academic essays and writing tasks 1 and 2 of
academic IELTS with a minimum band score of 7 – 7.5 requirement. The
course emphasizes the development of academic reading and writing
skills in a process-oriented way through several drafts with many
opportunities for writing 250-word argumentative essays as well as
writing 150-word reports on charts, graphs, and diagrams.

ACADEMIC ENGLISH FOR COLLEGE & IELTS
This course of advanced English includes extensive language
development and preparation for the Academic IELTS examintion.
This course teaches academic competences, such as: academic IELTS
examination procedures, listening comprehension & note-taking
skills, solid speaking skills for general, formal, and academic settings,
effective reading-comprehension of academic and general texts,
practical writing skills for general, formal, and academic contexts,
successful time management while implementing exam components.
ACADEMIC ENGLISH FOR COLLEGE AND VOCABULARY
Learners will enhance their proficiency in using English at an academic
level. Introductory college course texts and lectures are used for
reading and listening exercises, and academic topics are used for
speaking and writing lessons. Classroom discussions, exercises and
homework assignments would prepare learners for attending and
succeeding in Canadian college and university classes as far as use
of English for Academic purposes is concerned.
ACADEMIC VOCABULARY
This course teaches vocabulary for academic purposes. Learners will
discuss meaning and use of academic vocabulary.
COMMON ERRORS & GRAMMAR IN IELTS
This course is an advanced English language error detection and
elimination course across grammar, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation,
and pronunciation which provides an opportunity for students to spot
their errors. The ultimate goal of this course is to empower students
to create error-free spoken and written language as required for an
advanced IELTS score.

ESL ACADEMIC PREPARATION COURSES - Levels 6-9
ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES
This course is an advanced course which provides opportunity for
students to learn and practice the skills needed at a college/university
level, including critic-analytical thinking skills, advanced academic
learning strategies, academic vocabulary and advanced grammar.
Emphasis will be also on those aspects of advanced sentence structure
required for producing academic texts.
IELTS
This course will teach learners how to achieve high listening, reading,
writing and speaking IELTS scores. The course is divided into four
modules: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Learners will learn
how to prepare for the IELTS exam. Learners will also learn how to
manage their time during the exam. The course provides learners with
practice tests.

INTENSIVE ENGLISH FOR COLLEGE
This course will prepare students who wish to take college courses.
Essay writing, study skills, and high level grammar will be the focus.
TOEFL PREPARATION
This course will prepare learners for the TOEFL (Test of English as a
Foreign Language) test. This intensive language training course will
help learners increase their TOEFL scores. The course is based on
improving: speaking, listening and reading comprehension, writing
and grammar skills, and essay writing. Learners will be given sample
exam questions for practice.
SPECIALIZED ESL COURSES
ESL COMPUTERS
Learners will be able to get computer and language knowledge. Learners
practice the English language using Microsoft Office programs, internet,
email and other topics. Learners will be introduced to computer
vocabulary. Language is the focus.
ESL for FOOD SERVICES
This course will help learners improve their English for Food Service
jobs. Learners will improve their vocabulary for the food industry and
practice conversations for the workplace. Learners will also learn about
health and safety rules in the food industry. Learners will be given
information about jobs in the food industry.
COMMUNICATION FOR ENGINEERS
This course prepares internationally educated engineering graduates
for professional communication in the Canadian workforce. Topics
will include: presentation, developing and enhancing meeting, and
negotiation skills, language of tactful communication, preliminaries
of technical writing, and introduction to the Canadian professional
engineering practice.
BUSINESS WRITING
Learn how to write for business purposes including memos, forms
emails, reports and letters. Study and practice the forms of writing
you will need to be successful in a business career.
GRAMMAR COURSES - Levels 3-6
GRAMMAR & WRITING
This course is designed for intermediate learners to develop their
grammar and writing skills. Learners will learn and improve their
grammar and writing skills and will be able to progress from writing
small paragraphs to short essays using proper grammar.
APPLIED GRAMMAR IN CONVERSATION
This course will teach English grammar to help learners with English
conversation. Learners will be able to apologize, make requests,
express gratitude, etc. Learners will be able to avoid common
grammatical errors.
GRAMMAR IN CONVERSATION
In this course, learners learn grammar concepts that can be used
in conversations using different topics. Learners are able to practice
conversations and use proper grammar and pronunciation.
CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH
This course allows learners to practice their conversational English
skills. Learners are able to improve their listening and speaking skills
using different topics and situations. Conversation practice is done
in pairs and small groups.
CITIZENSHIP COURSES - Levels 4-8
ENGLISH FOR CITIZENSHIP
This course will give students an advantage for the vocabulary and
terms they will need to prepare for the Citizenship Preparation course.
It will include reading, listening, writing, and speaking modules with
a focus on Canada and its culture, political system, history as well as
everday English skills
CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION
This course prepares learners for the Citizenship test. The course
teaches learners about Canadian geography, history, culture and
government. Learners gain an understanding of the rights and
responsibilities of Canadian citizens. Learners do practice test
questions for the citizenship exam, learn more about Canada, and
improve their English language skills. This course uses the citizenship
study guide, Discover Canada.

WRITING COURSES - Levels 4-9
IMPROVING WRITING & VOCABULARY
This course is an intense writing program for both professionals who
need to improve thier writing and for those who wish to supplement
other academic courses such as TOEFL or IELTS. It begins with basic
paragraph writing, examines each kind of paragraph, and ends with
short composition/letter writing.
IMPROVING CONVERSATION & WRITING
In this course the productive skills of language learning are focused
on. The basis is grammar of spoken and written English and their
application in theme-based conversation and writing.
CONVERSATION COURSES - Levels 1-7
EVERYDAY BASIC CONVERSATION
In this course, learners are able to practice basic conversation. The
main focus of this class is listening and speaking. Learners also practice
basic pronunciation and problem sounds.
CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH
This course allows learners to practice thier conversational English
skills. Learners are able to improve their listening and speaking skills
using different topics and situations. Conversation practice is done in
pairs and small groups.
ESL CONVERSATION
Learners will learn how to start and develop conversations in various
situations. Learners are taught vocabulary and grammar that can be

This course focuses on teaching pre-intermediate to intermediate
vocabulary which is followed by using theme-based, controlled
situational conversation practices.
IMPROVING CONVERSATION & 4 Skills
This course focuses on a communicative approach to improving their
conversation ability through authentic real life activities. Students
will practice and improve their English fluency while working in pairs
or groups through conversational role-play.
ESL CONVERSATION CAFÉ
This course allows learners to practice English conversation. Learners
are introduced to new vocabulary and grammar to help them in
conversations.
CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH & VOCABULARY
Learners will improve vocabulary and use of expressions in
conversations and practices.
SPEAKING NATURALLY
Students will devleop confidence with skills and strategies to correct,
practice and monitor weaker areas in speaking and explore and
practice strategies to improve intonation and fluency and increase
effective and culturally relevant usage of English vocabulary in
specific advanced areas of the language.
PRONUNCIATION COURSES
ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION
Learners will improve pronunciation skills using pronunciation drills and
practice problem sounds. This class will focus on correcting pronunciation
errors.
SPEAKING & PRONUNCIATION CLINIC
This course will improve speaking skills & pronunciation through
drills and practice. Learners will listen to real conversations and focus
on pronunciation, conversation expressions, grammar & vocabulary
will be introduced.
ESL FOR SENIORS COURSES - Levels 1-4
ESL FOR SENIORS
Seniors can learn everyday English and basic communication skills.
This course teaches listening, speaking, reading and writing for
everyday use.
