Dear Imagineer Families,
Welcome to the “Create Your Own Adventure” 2015-2016 school year! We have
been busy planning many activities to start the year off with a bang, including
transforming the formerly known area of ​
Upper Elementary​
into the new and
improved ​
Tomorrowland​
!
At the beginning of the year, we will be leading the Imagineer students on a
rocket-building adventure. To “launch” this unit, we are asking that each student
design a ​
completely original prototype​
of a jet pack. (Something that you can’t
even find on Pinterest!) We will be discussing the engineering principles of each jet
pack when school begins. Be creative! We want each student to think of something
that will make his/her jet pack unique and,​
most importantly, reflective of his/her
​
personality.
Another thing that we look forward to doing when school begins is sharing and
discussing our summer reads. Hopefully all of our future Imagineers have been
doing a lot of reading this summer! Each student should be ready to share a favorite
summer book with the class during the first week of school. Students will be
creating a video booktalk to share with the rest of the Imagineers via our classroom
blog, and each student’s individual video will be uploaded to his/her eProcessfolio.
We know we are going to have an excellent year ​
creating our own adventures​
