UC San Diego OTIEC’s Outreach Trainers Outreach Trainer Info UCSD OTIEC’s Outreach Department is committed to providing friendly, efficient and speedy service to our thousands of trainers. We have dedicated Outreach staff members, a robust and always improving online reporting tool and are available to answer questions via phone and email. Outreach comments and questions should be directed to dedicated staff members at oti-outreach@ucsd.edu and/or 858-534-9283. We are diligently working towards making UCSD the premier OTIEC for Outreach trainers to maintain their affiliation and card processing. We value your opinions and appreciate the continual feedback regarding our new online system. Thank you for your continued support of our safety and outreach programs. Outreach Trainers Be an OSHA-Authorized Outreach Trainer! Outreach Reporting Tool To become a UCSD OSHA-authorized outreach trainer or to maintain your trainer status for Construction, General Industry, Maritime, Disaster Site or Cal/OSHA, follow these easy steps: The UC San Diego OSHA Training Institute Education Center developed a web based online Submission Tool for our Outreach Trainers. Step 1: Download the Prerequisite Verification of Eligibility Form by clicking on “Apply Now” on the relevant trainer course page (500, 501, 502, 503, 5400, 5600, 5029, and 5039). You may also email oshatraining@ucsd.edu for an electronic copy. Fill out the required information on the form. This advanced system allows for trainers to submit course documentation electronically and receive cards in a timely and efficient manner, avoiding any unnecessary delays. Often times, card processing takes 24-72 hours—not the customary 30 days. Step 2: Email the completed form along with a copy of your trainer card or course completion certificate to oshatraining@ucsd.edu. Please note that your verification form cannot be processed without proper proof of the required prerequisites. Step 3: Once you have received an approval email from the OH&S department, you will then follow the instructions to enroll in the class of your choice. Additionally, our system provides a database for trainers to access all student and card information in real time significantly cutting down time to find student records and process replacement cards when needed. We strive to be the gold standard in Outreach and continue to partner with our trainers to ensure that they are equipped with all the necessary tools to make them successful. XXX-XXX-000 Not Printed at State Expense Certificate Programs Professional Certificate Safety Specialist Certificate The UCSD Professional Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health provides experienced safety professionals important workplace knowledge and practical experience regarding safety and safety standards. Professional Certificates offer concentrated study in areas directly applicable to many jobs and can add breadth and depth to existing knowledge and skills. You can elect a single certificate in Construction or General Industry, or a Dual Certificate in both areas. The Safety Specialist Certificate was designed by the Occupational Safety and Health Department at UC San Diego Extension and the Associated Builders and Contractors, San Diego Chapter (ABC). It is an intensive, cohort-based program that combines in-class education with associated skills practice. Included in the certificate program topics are all items necessary for individuals to prepare for entry-level safety jobs in the construction industry, including an on-the-job internship. Fundamentals Certificate The Public Sector Safety and Health Fundamentals Certificate Program supports OSHA’s mission by training public sector employees in occupational safety and health to reduce incident rates for workers in state and local governments (the certificate program is highly applicable to private industry workers as well). Participants can choose from a variety of topics such as occupational safety and health standards for construction or general industry, safety and health management, accident investigation, fall hazard awareness, and recordkeeping. For more information on Certificate Programs, see page 6 or visit osha.ucsd.edu Home of the TRAINING INSTITUTE EDUCATION CENTER
