In Combination With Completing Hours Of Classroom Instruction

Dear Current 8th – 11th Grade Parent/Guardian:
Through Ohio Senate Bill 311, the State Board of Education has adopted a plan that enables students
to “earn units of high school credit based on demonstration of subject area competency, instead of or
in combination with completing hours of classroom instruction”. This plan is referred to as “Credit
Flexibility”.
The Wyoming City School District has developed a credit flexibility plan that will enable students to
earn high school credit by: a) completing coursework, b) testing out of or demonstrating mastery of
course content, c) pursuing one or more educational options in accordance with the District’s Credit
Flexibility plan, or d) any combination of the above. This plan went into effect beginning with the
2011-2012 school year.
Students choosing to take advantage of this opportunity must complete a Wyoming High
School Credit Flexibility Application and submit it to the Middle School or High School
Guidance Office no later than April 13, 2015. Applications will be available on the High
School website (www.wyomingcityschools.org) on March 6th. Click on High School and then
on Guidance. All applicants will receive notification of approval within seven calendar days in
order to accommodate appropriate schedule changes. Any student who applies after April 13th
will not be eligible for the credit flexibility option during the 2015-2016 school year.
Please note that this plan and application process also applies to summer physical education classes
and online Health. Therefore, if you wish your child to take online Health or physical education
during the summer, the above-mentioned application must be completed no later than April 13th.
Templates for the most requested Credit Flex classes (Lakota and Cincinnati Country Day Summer
PE and BYU online Health) are available online and in the Middle School and High School
Guidance Offices. For your convenience I have attached registration/cost information for BYU
online Health and dates/cost for Lakota and CCD summer PE.
For detailed information about how credit flexibility may apply to your child’s academic planning,
please contact Monica Moore, High School Counselor, at 206-7059 or
moorem@wyomingcityschools.org.
Sincerely,
Aaron Marshall

the text our ninth graders use. Summaries must be turned in to the HS Guidance Office the first week of

required (Wyoming School Fund). The final grade will be the average of summer school grade and
Chapters Review grade.
PE 10: Prior to the first day of school, students must read the 15 lessons posted on Blackboard and
complete the 10 point quiz at the end of each lesson. Instructions will be emailed. Final grade will be
average of summer school grade and quiz grades.
