Australian defence contracts commonly require compliance against MIL-STD-882C/D/E ‘Military Standard System Safety
Program Requirements’.
This course is intended for engineers, engineering managers, safety managers, and contract managers within the Defence Materiel
Organisation, prime contractor organisations, and subcontractor organisations.
Learning Outcomes

Know how MIL-STD-882 influences the design of a defence system
Know the differences in approach between MIL-STD-882 and other regimes such as DEF(AUST) 5679
Know how to tailor a MIL-STD-882 programme for a MOTS/
COTS system, new design, or for a retrospective safety case
Have an appreciation of the level of effort and resources required for different MIL-STD-882 programmes
Understand how to incorporate a supplier’s analysis into an overarching safety programme
