Our students represent the next generation of leaders, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, patent holders, artists, game designers, architects and innovators from around the world. The Class of 2014 graduates went to work in a variety of employment fields, ranging from aerospace to scientific research. Rensselaer graduates will be attending some of the most prestigious universities in the nation to continue on with their studies. This year, we are pleased to report that 82% of graduates who responded to our survey secured their future plans within six months of graduation. Our graduates exemplify intellectual agility, multicultural sophistication, and a global view – traits that will serve them well in our top reported industries of biotechnology, energy, computer hardware and software, and financial services. Jennifer Walters, Director Center for Career and Professional Developement "It's hard to believe Gore has been recruiting at RPI for over 20 years! Even during years when our hiring forecast was down, we maintained RPI as a priority school. The combination of academic rigor and personal leadership qualities displayed by your students has always impressed us. We find RPI graduates to be bright, well-rounded and self-driven." Jane Gardner, Recruiter W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. 3 3 Programs and Services On-Campus Recruiting Career Counseling By Appointment and Daily Walk-in Hours Resume, Cover Letter and Graduate School Application Critiquing Employer Events, Career Days and Spring Career Fair JobLink: Online Recruiting and Job Posting System Career Assessments and Interest Inventories Programming Designed for Students by Class Year and by School “Career fairs, information sessions, and other events planned by the Career Center are all opportunities for students to practice connecting with people. These events provide an outlet for students to exercise articulating an idea, persuading someone, and negotiating a situation towards your favor. These soft skills can help with sealing an opportunity during a career fair, and have also carried on after graduation to help with my daily tasks at work.” Jeffrey Lin BS, Business & Management Class of 2014 Cooperative Education Program (Spring/Summer and Summer/Fall) Outreach and Campus Collaborations 4 3 Programming and Career Counseling Appointments Number of Events Total Workshops, Seminars and Outreach Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Student Attendance 112 2243 Student Attendance Number of Counseling Appointments Number of Walk-in Appointments 1091 866 Programs Freshmen Career Compass Workshops On-the-Go Resumania and Resumania on the Road Senior Drop-in Days Collaboration with Residence Halls and Student Organizations Workshops & Presentations Answers to the Toughest Interview Questions Applying Online Career Fair Prep Experience Matters Graduate School Prep International Students Working in the USA Salute to Seniors Successful Phone Interviewing 5 Employer On-Campus Recruiting Activity Activity 2013—2014 2012—2013 % Change Organizations Interviewing on Campus * 108 126 -14.0% Number of Interview Schedules 351 334 +5.0% 2,389 2,356 +1.4% 1,244 1,334 -7.0% 351 300 +17.0% 792 799 -1.0% Representatives Interviewing On Campus 421 427 -1.0% Career Fair Representatives 371 372 —— Number of Interviews Conducted Full-time Co-op and Summer Number of Recruiter Visits to Campus * Note: Some companies recruit in both Fall and Spring, but are counted only once.
