Sustainable Urban Public Transport: Challenges and Solutions September 23-24, Malmö It’s our great pleasure to announce K2s first major international conference Sustainable Urban Public Transport: Challenges and Solutions, 23rd-24th September, in Malmö, Sweden. Welcome! The conference brings together academics and practitioners from Sweden and around the world to discuss the challenges in achieving Sustainable Urban Public Transport. Amongst the speakers are experts in public transport operations, contracting, urban planning and social equity, but the common theme running through all their contributions will be: - their perspective on key challenges in achieving sustainable urban public transport; - how their work – in academia, practice or both – has helped address these challenges; - and how academics and practitioners can work together even more effectively in the future to produce research relevant to these key challenges. About K2 The K2 National Knowledge Centre for Public Transport is a consortium of Lund University, Malmö University and VTI, funded by the regions of Skåne, Stockholm and Västra Götaland together with Trafikverket, Formas, Vinnova and the three partner institutions. It started in January 2013 with a mission to conduct world-class research through co-production and knowledge building to develop the future of attractive public transport. It has a Board with members from the broadly defined public transport sector, and is based in Lund, but with activities across the three main urban regions of the country. The K2 Vision In 2030, Sweden will be a role model in Europe for how public transport can contribute to the development of sustainable and attractive city regions. Public transport will be the main system of passenger travel in metropolitan areas, with resource-efficient access to everyday destinations, at the same time delivering better health and better quality of life.
