(12 MIN) The Spotlight Effect: Purpose: One of the most difficult aspects of Public Speaking is making eye contact and scanning the audience. Focus at looking at people’s eyes in a NON-CREEPY WAY! If that is too hard to do, then look at their foreheads. We will split into small group: 1) Each individual will have his or her turn to answer a Would you Rather Question!!! 2) All other members in the group will start off putting two hands in the air until the speaker makes eye contact with him or her. Then he or she will put one hand down when looked at. 3) The Speaker should continue speaking until all hands are put down. To do this, the speaker needs to look at each audience member at least 2 times. 7:32PM IMPROMPTU (25 MIN) Volunteer to share your thoughts on the below prompts: How did they meet (the two people in the photo)? What does this graph represent? Where is home for you, and describe it? Who is your role model and how does he or she influence who you want to become in 25 years?
