Golf carts available to transport handicapped and senior citizens. 2ndANNUALRALPH MADDUX MOTORCYCLE SHOW – October 2 When locals hear talk of motorcycles in Granville, their thoughts go to the memory of former resident Ralph Maddux. He bought his first motorcycle at a young age and operated his own motorcycle shop in Cookeville for 18 years. The Granville Museum will now have an annual Motorcycle Show to honor Ralph Maddux and his love of the sport. GALLINIPPERS BLUEGRASS BAND will perform on the back of a 1946 Chevrolet Truck all day parked on the street at Suttons Store. AGRICULTURALMUSEUM - 9:00AM The Granville Museum will dedicate a new expanded Agricultural Museum at 9:00 AM on Heritage Day. The Ag Museum has been enclosed with a handicap sidewalk that goes thru the entire exhibit. new exhibits have been developed on the history of tobacco, corn, eggs, farm implements, and blacksmiths, as well as farmers of Granville. The museum has developed a children’s “Farmer of the Day” program where visitors can gather farm products that can be bartered at Sutton General Store for candy. These exhibits were made possible from a grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture and a State of Tennessee Enhancement Grant. Granville Museum will dedicated the new sidewalks in memory of Neville Grant, M.D. The sidewalks were made possible by a donation by the John Deane family in his memory. The museum will also recognize Granville’s own Coach Jim Brown and the state winner Jackson County High School Girls Basketball. TRAILS LEAD TO GRANVILLE: Promise Land Trail - The Tennessee Department of Tourism has developed numerous trails to show case our great state. The Promise Land Trail comes up Highway 70 to Chestnut Mound then down Highway 53 to Granville and them up Highway 96 back to Highway 70. Civil War Trail - Granville will be on the Civil War Trail as Granville has its own marker honoring Col. Sidney S. Stanton and Thomas Jefferson Lee located on Memory Lane. Granville will be featured on the State Civil War Trail brochure due to a Granville Street scene photograph submitted by Peggy Clemons. UPPER CUMBERLAND QUILT TRAIL - Granville is the home of four quilts on buildings that are part of the Upper Cumberland Quilt Trail and Jackson County Trail. Smith at Halfacre Stage at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. “CIVIL WAR IN GRANVILLE” - Granville has a great history of Civil War activity with the Cumberland River playing a great part in this. Martin Frost will portray Col. Sidney S. Stanton as he tells the stories of Granville during this time period. Our Civil War soldiers will also re-enact past times.
