PLEASANVTILLE – A juvenile male from Sicklerville was arrested this morning for the
shooting death three months ago of a Pleasantville juvenile, Atlantic County Prosecutor
Jim McClain announced.
Pleasantville Police responded on Friday, August 7, 2015, to the 1100 block of Lincoln
Avenue in Max Manning Park, for a report of a body found lying in the field. Upon
arrival, police found the dead body of 17-year-old Pleasantville male.
An autopsy performed the next morning by Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s
Office Dr. Gerald Feigin determined that the cause of death was multiple gunshot
wounds, and that the manner of death was homicide.
The three-month investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes
Unit Detective James Scoppa and Pleasantville Police Department Detective Sergeant
Christopher Taggart led to the arrest this morning of a 17-year-old male from
Sicklerville, New Jersey.
The juvenile was arrested today without incident at his Sicklerville school with the
assistance of the Gloucester Township Police, and turned over to the custody of Major
Crimes and Pleasantville detectives, on charges authorized by Atlantic County
Prosecutor Jim McClain for murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose,
and unlawful possession of a weapon. The juvenile was lodged in the Harborfields
Juvenile Detention Center, Egg Harbor City.
A first appearance in Atlantic County Superior Court—Family Division is scheduled for
tomorrow.
