She has played with many gifted musicians, including Bucky Pizzarelli, Paul Pieper, Justin Lees, Chuck Redd, and Brooks Tegler—as well as Keter Betts and Bertell Knox, who were sidemen for such greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday when those gals rolled into the capital. Darcie's compositions have won awards, she has been featured on several radio programs, including “Music Americana” and “The Poet and the Poem,” and she played (and sung) the role of jazz singer Madeline HiRose in the film Mrs. Stevens Hears the Mermaids Singing. Cliff Frederiksen has worked with numerous world-class artists, including Diahann Carroll, Nancy Wilson, Willie Nelson, Bobbie Gentry, Chuck Berry, and Ike and Tina Turner. Originally from St. Louis, blues hub of the Midwest, he toured throughout the U.S. for more years than he’ll admit to before settling in Madison.
