You will be creating a poster about a specific career in art. This is to be an analog/digital combination of
illustrations, data, charts, & practical information layed-out in an attractive and informative finished product. This is
NOT a jumbled cut-and paste mess of print-outs and images from internet searches. Ms. Durkin is here to help you
if you wish to do the entire project using Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Photoshop. Consider using lunch time
or after-school time to work on this project if you do not have access to software at home.
Poster Size: A3: 297mm x 420mm
The Poster must Include:
• Career Title
• Describe the career in detail (at LEAST two full paragraphs)
(job duties involved, hours of work, work environment, nature of the work etc.)
• What type of education is necessary for this career?
(type of education, length, specific schools, what kind of degree, is licensure or certification required? etc.) Be
specific
• What specific qualifications/skills are necessary for success in this field and why are they important?
(drawing, design Concepts, organizational skills, mathematical skills, etc.)
• What are some related careers – how does this career relate to other careers and in what way? (An example
would be that Industrial Designers often work with Engineers and Manufacturers) Be specific
• What is the employment Outlook/Job Prospects for this career in the near future?
• What is the salary or average yearly income you can expect to earn in this career?
Is it different depending on where you live? If so – why?
• What activities/clubs/events would you participate in during highschool to prepare for this career? Why?
• Show examples of work from this career. Include individual artist names (when available), where they work,
etc.
• List at least four resources where you got your information. Cited at the bottom in 6 pt. Myriad Type
