CERTIFIED ASTHMA EDUCATOR EXAM: A PREPARATORY WORKSHOP
February 27 & 28 – Rush University Medical Center
Professional Office Building II
Searle Conference Center, Brainard Room
1710 W. Harrison Street, Chicago
Dear Healthcare Professional:
The purpose of this comprehensive 2-day workshop is to prepare the healthcare professional for the Asthma Educator Certification Examination
(AE-C). Based on current NHLBI guidelines and the AE-C content outline, this program is intended for individuals with a strong working
knowledge of asthma education and management. Developed by certified asthma educators, this course will also benefit those seeking an
overall review of asthma. Our faculty is comprised of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists with vast experience in
pediatric and adult asthma management. Their experience includes asthma management within hospital, clinic, school, academic, and
community settings.
This preparatory workshop includes lectures, case studies, and small group discussion. The hands-on demonstration stations promote one-onone learning and formal validation of asthma related skills. Participants receive lecture outlines, management tools, practice case studies,
patient education materials, and a copy of the AE-C Candidate Handbook. Product demonstration and pharmaceutical exhibits are available
during lunch and the break on the first day. This is a unique opportunity to network with other healthcare professionals who share your pursuit
for excellence in asthma education.
Cathy Catrambone, PhD, RN
