Many veterans and active duty personnel can qualify for more than one education benefits program, including the Post 9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Yellow Ribbon Program, and more. Tutoring The Student Academic Resource Center (SARC) hosts tutoring sessions at the VARC. Regular, consistent, and constant participation in SARC Peer Tutoring each and every week will increase the chances of achieving academic goals for the semester. Benefits include receiving extra assistance with concepts and materials presented in class, learning the material from a different point of view, and learning in a group setting with other UCF student vets. All of the tutors are internationally certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) Level I certification and are trained to facilitate learning. Study Space for Veterans Located inside the VARC are private study rooms available for use during VARC Hours. Here you can take advantage of free tutoring provided by the SARC or study on your own in a space free of distractions. Early Registration As a student veteran, you have special access to early registration for your classes. Avoid the scheduling rush; be among the first to enroll in the classes you want. Academic Advising Our Academic Advisor, from Transition and Transfer Services, helps you develop and implement your academic plans as well as support your transition to UCF. The advisor also has access to campus and community resources that are available to veterans. Career Guidance Dedicated to working with student veterans, our career counselor from Career Services can help you find the right major, minor and even career. This includes learning how to gain professional experience in your field while you are attending UCF. Our career counselor can also assist you in finding information about employers, developing a successful resume and practicing your interview skills. Veteran Counseling In collaboration with Counseling and Psychological Services, the VARC counselor works to ensure that your learning experience here at UCF goes as smoothly as possible, without concern for personal limitations, mental or emotional. Additionally, the VARC counselor offers crisis intervention and professional consultation. Disability Accommodations If you have a disability, our office (in collaboration with Student Disability Services) will work with you to provide assistance with classroom and examination accommodations, helping with course registration and referring you to campus and community services for veterans with disabilities.
