Role and Responsibilities: • • • • • • • • Design and develop electronic sub systems for Portal’s novel drug delivery system from concept through commercialization with due consideration to reliability and cost. Design, detail, build and debug prototype devices to optimize the design for commercialization. Evaluate system performance by designing, executing, and documenting multidimensional experiment plans. Manage the electronics development lifecycle consistent with FDA requirements, including the creation of requirements, specifications, validation and other documentation as needed. Support the risk management process using FMEA and other risk mitigation techniques. Manage electrical compliance testing. Develop test systems and procedures for use in the manufacture of electronic subassemblies. Design for cost and manufacturability through collaboration with Manufacturing and Procurement. © Portal Instruments, Inc. 2014 Confidential Required Skills and Experience: • • • • • Working knowledge of analytic and simulation-based modeling, schematic design and PCB Layout. Working knowledge of firmware development for microcontrollers. Experience working with high voltage power electronics. Comprehensive knowledge of modern miniaturization techniques. Familiarity with quality system requirements for medical device product development. Qualifications: • • • • • • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline. 3-5 years of experience in commercial development and/or validation, with at least 3 years in a medical products company pursuing FDA or related product approvals. Excellent electrical engineering and design skills, including proficiency with tools for modeling and designing analog and digital systems. Experience with CadSoft EAGLE, ARM microcontrollers, the C programming language, FPGA development, and control theory is preferred. Working knowledge of UL, FCC, and CE/ISO standards and test methods. Ability to work independently in a start-up environment. Salary commensurate with experience; potential equity participation.
