USING THE DIAMOND ONLINE LIBRARY CATALOG
The Law Library's web-based online public access catalog (OPAC) is available at
http://diamond.temple.edu/search
If you are accessing the catalog from outside the Law School, you are connected to the Paley
Library catalog automatically. To switch to the Law Library collection, click on the drop down
menu to the left of the Submit button to change to "Law Library."
Law Library holdings represented in the catalog include:
♦ all books (monographs) acquired since Fall, 1981
♦ all books (monographs) acquired before Fall, 1981, reclassified and recataloged
♦ all serial titles (journals and law reviews) and Paley Library web access journals
♦ materials in special collections (i.e., Rawle Collection, rare book collection)
♦ non-print materials (microfiche, videos, sound recordings, computer files)
Much of the microfiche collection is not in the online catalog. Consult with the Microforms
Librarian for holdings.

SEARCHING THE CATALOG
The search utility ignores punctuation and capitalization.
Choose from the following search types:
Basic and Advanced Keyword Search
♦ Search for terms in the Title, Note, Author and Subject fields.
♦ Combine search terms with Boolean operators, AND, OR and AND NOT.
♦ Truncate with "*" to find different endings of root words.
♦ Use Adjacency, Proximity and Field Search functions.
Title
♦ Type as many or as few words from the title as you wish.
♦ Search holdings of journals and law reviews here; enter journal title.
♦ Initial articles will be ignored.
Author
♦ For an individual author type last name first.
♦ You may also search for a corporate author such as the American Bar Association or
American Trial Lawyers Association
♦ To search for multiple authors of a work, use their last names in a Keywords search.
Subject
Search by Library of Congress subject headings. You must use terms established in the
thesaurus created by the Library of Congress.
Video/DVD Search
A search limited to multimedia holdings.
Other Searches
♦ Journal Title – Limited to serial publications
♦ Author and Title Search – Combined search of these fields
♦ Numbers – Library of Congress call numbers, SuDocs, ISSN (periodicals), and ISBN (books)
RETRIEVAL LIST
A retrieval list can further be limited by any, or a combination, of the following parameters
♦ year (series or single year)
♦ publisher
♦ material type
♦ location
♦ language
♦ keywords
and the results sorted by year, relevance, type, title, or author.
ITEM RECORD
The item record shows useful information and links to tools.
Start Over - links to the main catalog page
Save Record - helps you build a list during your search session
Return to List - links to your retrieved list
Limit/Sort Search - helps you refine the search and sort through your retrieved list
Another Search - lets you do another search of the same type (i.e., Title, Keyword, etc.)
Previous Record - links to previous record in your retrieved list
Next Record - links to next record in your retrieved list
Call Number is the information needed to retrieve the material from the Reference Desk.
Blue clickable links launch searches for other materials by the author or subject.
Serial holdings are also displayed in the item record.

E-ZBorrow/Interlibrary Loan
These services help you locate and request materials at other libraries.
Journal Finder
Journal Finder organizes all Temple University Libraries' print and electronic journal
subscriptions. Search by journal title or article citation to locate Temple-owned articles.
Requests/Forms
Complete electronic forms for
♦ Intralibrary Loan - from another Temple library
♦ Collection Development - suggest book purchase
♦ Interlibrary Loan - article photocopy or book request from a non-Temple library
♦ Recalling a book that is currently checked out
