NAVARRE HIGH SCHOOL FULL-TIME DUAL ENROLLMENT CONTRACT Students who wish to participate in the full-time dual enrollment program shall meet the following conditions: • Completion of required credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (3.5 for UWF). • • • Successfully pass FCAT Reading and Math. Earn appropriate scores on the CPT, PERT, ACT or SAT. • Dual Enrollment courses must include: ENC 1101 and 1102 AMH 2010 and 2020 ECO 2013 / POS 2041 2 Math, MAC 1105 and higher 1 Science with a lab or 2 Science courses Students involved in extra-curricular activities are expected to check with their coach/sponsor before enrolling. Additional information and requirements: • Students should create their schedule and meet with an NHS guidance counselor for course approval. To develop a schedule, go to www.pjc.edu Click on QuickLinks and select Courses from the drop-down menu. Select the semester and campus center. For Class Type, select College Credit and for Discipline, select the ones you will be taking (i.e. English, Math, History, etc). For UWF, go to www.uwf.edu, click on Academics and select Course Search. For NWFSC go to www.nwfsc.edu and click on Class Schedule. • Once an NHS counselor has approved a schedule, it is the student’s responsibility to schedule an appointment with an academic advisor at the college to complete the registration process. This procedure must be followed each semester. PSC’s academic advisor is Michelle Horton at 484-1406. Her office is located in Building 2. UWF’s academic advisor is Eddie Rogers at 474-2238. • The student must provide the guidance office with an official copy of his/her final schedule. Student records, schedules, grades and transcripts may be viewed on Spyglass. From PSC’s home page, click on Spyglass. • Students are responsible for acquiring textbooks for each course. Textbooks may be checked out through NHS or purchased through the college bookstore. See reverse side for more information. • Full-time status must be maintained with at least 12 semester hours and an overall C average or better. If a student drops below full time status, they may not be eligible to continue in the dual enrollment program the following semester. In addition, students may have to attend night classes or complete FLVS courses in order to meet graduation requirements. Students who drop below a C average will be required to return to NHS. • Grades will be entered once each semester and will be used to calculate class rank. The institution will award college credit, which will be recorded on your permanent college record. Grades are traditionally reported as alphabetic grades. Therefore, the alphabetic grades are assigned the following numeric values: A+ = 100 B+ = 89 C+ = 79 D+ = 69 A = 95 B = 85 C = 75 D = 65 A- = 90 B- = 80 C- = 70 D- = 60 *If the professor provides an official numeric grade via a direct email to the counselor, we will substitute that grade. • Students are encouraged to use the free tutoring labs for Reading, Writing and Math, as well as the computer lab. Students are expected to contact the professor and/or Michelle Horton at PSC if they begin experiencing difficulties in a class. Students must obtain permission from their high school counselor if they intend to withdraw from a class. NWFSC allows only one withdrawal from a course and are limited to two total withdrawals. WARNING: Students are required to pay the full cost of a college course on the third attempt. • It is the student’s responsibility to stay informed regarding scholarships, activities, and information pertaining to NHS and graduation. This information may be found on the NHS website www.santarosa.k12.fl.us/nhs . • It is the student’s responsibility to obtain their college ID cards and parking decals. Obtain ID cards from the ID Center in Building 6. To obtain a parking decal, a PSC photo ID, schedule, and current vehicle registration are required. Go to PSC Police Department in Building 5. Students may visit the Career Connection Center, also found in Building 5. NOTE: Colleges and universities view high school dual enrollment credits in different ways. Therefore, we strongly advise students who are accumulating college credit while in high school to check with the individual college they plan to attend upon graduation from high school for information regarding the transfer of Dual Enrollment credit.
