General Description:
The Career Services Coordinator will be responsible for the developing
and leading the career courses and workshops on campus and online,
developing/coordinating the peer mentoring program, improving online
availability of career resources and recorded lectures, and developing a
new ASU alumni employment tracking database.
Educational Requirement:
Master degree in Counseling, Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or
Business.
Preferred Qualifications:

Self-motivated
Experience as an individual and/or career counselor
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Skill and experience in writing résumés and cover letters
Skill and experience in assisting people with conducting a job search
Excellent networking skills
Demonstrated technology proficiency (website development, Microsoft Suite, Microsoft
Publisher, and experience in utilizing online career services tools helpful)
Public speaking experience
Teaching experience
Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
Ability to build, strengthen and maintain relationships with academic and student services
departments across a college/university campus
Responsibilities:
The Career Services Coordinator, who reports to the Assistant Director of Career Services, is responsible
for the following:
 Working with assigned work study employees, graduate assistants, student mentors and
other Career Services professionals in the provision of comprehensive career services to ASU
students and their immediate families, including career counseling, development of résumés
and cover letters, conducting mock interviews, working with clients to help them choose a
major, advising clients in how to conduct a job search, working with clients exploring
graduate schools, and utilization of career assessments and inventories
 Developing and providing yearly or as-needed training in provision of career services to
assigned graduate assistants
 Collaborating with Assistant Director and implementing a comprehensive on-campus
marketing program for the Career Center and its services
 Supporting the Assistant Director with the ASU’s yearly Fall Local Jobs Fair, Spring Career
Fair, Spring Etiquette Dinner; recruitment of employers and students, planning,
coordinating, and reserving facilities as appropriate
















Developing an external network with organizations such as the Colorado Workforce Center,
area employers, and other college/university career centers
Participation in the Collegiate Career Services Association of Colorado & Wyoming (CCSA)
and attendance at the association’s twice-yearly meetings
Coordinating on-campus recruiting events with employers
Coordinating with academic departments across campus on open positions, internship
opportunities, and on-campus recruiting events
Monitoring inventory of career assessments (such as the Myers-Briggs, Strong Interest
Inventory, Self-Directed Search, College Majors Scorecard, My Majors etc.), and
coordinating with the Assistant Director to order additional supplies when warranted
Monitoring student usage of online career services programs (such as Grizzly Careers,
Internships.com, etc.) and making recommendations for continued usage and acquisition of
new or different programs
Collecting monthly and yearly statistics for appropriate reporting
Conducting surveys and assessments to assist in developing programs that will aid in
student development and retention
Responsible for teaching a 1-credit course to undeclared freshman and sophomores, to
engage students holistically and encourage them on life/career pathways
Develop a new system for tracking recent employment of ASU graduates
Manage the development of the career service’s mentor program
Working with the appropriate departments to participate in New Student Orientation,
Discover Days, Resident Assistant training, and ongoing Residence Life programming
Developing and performing career workshops on various topics
Referring students to other ASU resources as needed
Other duties as assigned
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required
Starting Salary: $34,000-$35,000 based on education and experience. Adams State offers a University
Benefits Package.
