Spring 2012 2 FEATURED DOG: JAKE, A PUREBRED PLOTTHOUND Hi! My name is Jake and you can call me an honorary senior because at age 5+, I already have grey in my muzzle. I am a sweet dog who is good with dogs but really prefers to be with people. When the dogs are playing in the yard I just want to be with my foster person. I was brought to a high kill shelter by my owner, emaciated and defeated. My owner kicked me and said, get in the kennel. I never did anything wrong so I didn’t know why he treated me like this. A great woman rescued me but I have been in rescue over 2 years and really would like a home now as I live outside most of the time. I am about 60 pounds. Let me tell you something about Plotthounds. Plotthounds make fine companions. Loyal and intelligent, the Plotthound is quick to learn and quick to love. Well that’s me! If you want to adopt me and give me a loving home, please email joansdogs@aol.com for an adoption application. I am on my way to NY from Tennessee and into a great foster home under Senior Pets NYC. Senior Dog Success Story—From “Stupid” to “Stewie” to ADOPTED! Sweet Stewie, age 9 or 10 (they called him "stupid") was in a very neglectful situation where he was tied on a short chain in a kennel, not being cleaned or fed properly. He wagged his tail and was so happy when we arrived. We took him straight to the vet. He received proper medical care and love and needed a forever home so badly. He is a very good dog and does well with the other dogs @ the shelter. Loves and trusts everyone. Shortly after his arrival, he was adopted! BEFORE After a bath! A REAL HOME! This rural W. Poem written by Boogie Sometimes you just get lucky and this is what happened for Duke. Surrendered by his owner who had two other labs that went to a rescue together, Duke went to Senior Pets NYC’s foster home. Three applications came in in two days and two people went on a meet and greet, but passed on Duke for different reasons. The fosters fell in love. And they are adopting Duke. Thanks Joan and Keith!
