f you close your eyes while standing in Cain’s Ballroom you can still hear the echoes of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys,
Johnnie Lee Wills, Hank Williams, and Kay Starr. This venue is the cauldron that blended Rockabilly, Country, Rock 'n' Roll, and
Blues, and the music that brewed within these walls became known as “the Tulsa Sound,” popularized by JJ Cale, Leon Russell,
Elvin Bishop, and Eric Clapton.
On behalf of Holland Hall and the 2015 Auction Committee, we’d like to welcome you to this historic Tulsa landmark, built only two
years after the founding of Holland Hall. Tonight, like so many of the recording artists that have performed here, we are going to
raise the roof. We are going to raise the bids, we are going to raise money for the school we love, and we are going to Rock the Red.
Cain’s Ballroom has evolved from a garage, a dime-a-dance joint and a dancing academy until it became one of the top club
performance venues in the world today. Holland Hall, too, has evolved from more humble beginnings until it has become what
it is today – one of the nation’s top independent schools. This progress has been made possible by the support of the school’s
community, its parents, its alumni, its leadership, and its friends.
Music, Tulsa, Cain’s Ballroom and Holland Hall will be at the heart of tonight. We will enjoy incredible food and drinks, talented
entertainers, and exciting auction items. As the echoes of the excitement and the ringing in our ears still lingers, we can bask in
the glow of making a difference in the lives of our students. We can take pride that we have supported the educational mission of
Holland Hall. We can revel in the fact that we Rocked the Red!
Sincerely
