2013/2014 WALMART LABEL ORDERING GUIDE
Dear Valued Walmart Vendor:
We are partnering with Walmart and you this season to provide one of the most dynamic and flexible label
programs. We understand that while retail tagging programs are needed to drive sales, they can be
challenging and costly to administer. In developing the Walmart program, we listened first:
Grower Objectives:
“Make items available in low quantity increments.”
This reduces excess waste and minimizes obsolete special program tags on your shelves.
“Have most items available quickly without waiting for the ‘next run date’.”
This reduces the need for excess safety stock on your shelves and enables you to quickly respond to
Walmart needs during peak shipping times.
“Minimize the number of items we need to carry.”
The higher the number of items you need to carry, the more likely you are to be out of stock on items
you need, while having excess of items you don’t need.
“Provide me with competitive pricing.”
By having a competitive price on the tags, and also minimizing your operational costs with a reduced
inventory, you can maximize value to your Walmart consumer.
Working together with Walmart, we believe we have met these objectives. There are three cornerstones
of our program.
1. Generic List
The first was to develop a more generic list of varieties that is in line with the Walmart consumers’
needs. The majority of Walmart consumers are more interested in what plant looks appealing and
how to be successful with it than they are specific variety types. Our generic tag program
accomplishes that, At the same time minimizing your operational costs. While embracing the generic
approach, Walmart has allowed that specific varietal information may still be printed out on the
pressure sensitive tag applied to each container.
2. Walmart Stock Program
The second cornerstone is to offer these generic varieties in a Walmart Stock Program, where
MasterTag inventories a large cross-section of the highest selling items. These items will be available
in much lower order increments per variety than previously offered, typically 100 per item.
Additionally, they can be shipped quickly. The benefits are many for this type of program, particularly
during your peak shipping periods.
3. Walmart Special Order Program
In the final cornerstone, we understand there are certain items that may fall outside of our generic
Walmart Stock listing, due to unique plant habit, specific regional popularity and less broad appeal.
We have identified a limited, defined list of items that will be available in a Walmart Special Order
Program. These are also primarily generic. The pricing will be the same, but the order increments are
higher and they will be produced according to scheduled run dates. When ordering these items,
please consider this is a multi-year program. This is a restricted list only for items needed to fulfill
defined needs. Any requested additions to this list should be directed to MasterTag and if necessary
we will seek approval from Walmart.
We ask that all vendors utilize either our web-ordering tools or electronic order forms available on our
Walmart ordering site. This is a requirement to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of your orders.
We welcome your feedback and are continuing to enhance our electronic ordering tools. The website will
contain the most up to date lists and well as current versions of the Label Ordering Guide.

A cornerstone of the Walmart Tagging program for the core items will
be color schemes for each classification (i.e. annual, perennial, tree,
shrub), supported by navigational signage. This will provide
improvements in execution to planogram, and ease of the purchase
decision for our consumer.

METHODS EXPLAINED
The foundation of the MasterTag Tagging program for Walmart is providing a
large cross section of plant varieties in inventory. These items will be generic in
nature, and readily available for ordering. All items will be available on our
web-site for viewing and ordering convenience.

There are two basic ways in which Walmart tags can be ordered.
WALMART STOCK PROGRAM
This is an extensive listing of all Walmart tags that are placed into inventory at
MasterTag.

Examples of Walmart Stock program would be: Generic classification such as Petunia,
Geranium, Hosta, Forsythia, etc.

Any stock item not in stock will be printed and shipped within 10 business days.
q
All Walmart Stock program items must be ordered in increments of 100 per variety.
WALMART SPECIAL ORDER PROGRAM
For items needed that are not part of our inventory program, MasterTag will
provide the convenience of our Special Order program. We will provide a defined
listing of Walmart Special Order items on our web-site and downloadable order
forms. Only items on the list may be special ordered.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why can’t I get the items I want that aren’t on the Walmart Stock List or
Walmart Special Order List?
The program was designed around offering generic tags in order to provide quick response, maximum
grower operational benefits, and minimal tag cost. In order to maintain the integrity of the generic
program, additional items will only be considered where there is a compelling reason why the generic
offering will not work. Additions will require the approval of both Walmart and MasterTag. The criteria are
not that it’s a different variety, but rather the following:
• Does it genetically have a unique growth habit (e.g. upright where most varieties are prostrate)?
• Does it have a significantly different temperature zone than most varieties?
• Would not offering the additional variety result in significant additional costs that offset the savings in
this program?
With the Walmart Special Order Program, can I get whatever quantity I want?
No. Unlike the Walmart Stock Program, to streamline turnaround to you and maintain competitive costs,
there are set order increments and run dates. Additionally, for these items there is an industry standard +/10% quantity allowance. We will bill you for the actual quantity we ship.
I don’t see some of the categories I used last year. Can I still order tags that way?
No. A critical part of the Walmart labeling program for this year is the Product Classification on the tags.
This is both by name and color coding. For example, annuals have a red background and perennials have a
blue background. This will be used by store personnel in positioning the product in the correct location
according to their Planogram. Ordering from the wrong classification can result in your product being
placed incorrectly, and having the incorrect care information. Please pay very close attention to ordering in
the right classification. Some items will be available in multiple classifications, for example as either an
annual or a perennial, or as either an outdoor plant or an indoor plant.

WE WILL ISSUE A RETURN AUTHORIZATION NUMBER (RMA = 5 DIGIT NUMBER).
The RMA# will need to be presented on the outside of the box utilized to return the product (preferably on two
sides of the box).
UNACCEPTABLE RETURN
Dirty and unorganized tags are not an acceptable return.
ACCEPTABLE RETURN
Tags neatly returned with the packing slip in the original
white MasterTag box is preferred.
No returns will be accepted without prior authorization. Requests for adjustments must be made within 30 days of shipment. There will be a
25% restocking charge on all customer returns. All credits are contingent on product returned in condition acceptable for resale.
