Psychological Disorder Research Paper and PowerPoint Project
Each student will prepare a 2-3 page research paper, with citations and bibliography. The paper should include
the following:
Definition of Disorder and Symptoms
Differences between your Disorder and Others in Category
Methods of Diagnosis
Theories that explain the Disorder (Both Psychological and Biological)
Treatment of the psychological disorder
Over the next few weeks, different parts of the project will be due and count as homework assignments.
The Research Paper and PowerPoint presentation in class will receive exam grades.
The paper will be about one of the following psychology topic areas or another topic developed by the student
with teacher approval. Only a maximum of two students will able to prepare a paper about each topic so as to
get a wide range of papers and presentations in class during the last few weeks of the class.
Schedule of Due Dates:
April 24th, 2015 – Topic (with thesis paragraph).
May 1st, 2015 – One page of notes with references to at least 3 sources
May 8th, 2015 – Outline of proposed paper
May 20th, 2015 – Rough draft of the paper

MLA citations throughout the paper
May 27th, 2015 – Final 2-3-page paper due with citations page and MLA references. Submit printed copy to
Dr. Quigley. Each day late is 5 points off final grade. Submit final copy to Turnitin.com website.
May 27th thru June 13th, 2015 – 5- 8 minute PowerPoint presentation in class on your topic which can include
time for discussion or Q&A. All presentations must be submitted into the HANDINS folder for your class
period by May 27th.
PowerPoint must contain a Title slide with Disorder, Name, and Class. A separate slide for each of the topics
required in the research paper. Finally, the last slide should be an interesting fact you found out about the
disorder. (7-11 slides) Slides should have graphics and pictures. You may incorporate a 2-3 minute clip from
YouTube as part of your presentation. Presentations not presented due to excessive absences will be penalized.
Missing any of the above due dates will result in lower homework or exam grades for that assignment.
