Goodbye Super Teep, Ice Girl, Fire Man and All the Other Superheroes in 2P;
Hello MRS NERG....
Here is the Class 2P Blog for February.....
Another month of learning has been and gone already!
In numeracy, we continued to practise number bonds, addition and subtraction. We learnt
that addition and subtraction are the inverse of each other, which makes it easier to check our
answers!
We revised telling the time; most of us can now read o'clock, half past, quarter to and quarter
past on a clock; some of us can read other times too.
Just before half term, we challenged ourselves with number and colour Sudoku puzzles.
After half term, we moved on to multiplication. We started with some enjoyable practical work
on grouping, and then progressed to calculating multiplication sums and working out problems.
We are becoming very careful when setting our work out in our books.
In literacy, we practised using different sentence openers, such as First, Then, Eventually,
Meanwhile, Fortunately, Despite, Whilst, Having decided, and so on.
We were given some amazing pictures that have been created out of every food item
imaginable! In our table groups, we wrote descriptions of the pictures, trying to use interesting
vocabulary in proper sentences. We could see such fascinating features as cool cucumber
bridges, sweet candy houses, slippery fish oceans and sugary marshmallow paving stones! This
activity made us feel very hungry!!
We identified speech in books, and also wrote our own speech, making sure we used speech
marks and other punctuation correctly.
We planned a story about a journey, using a story mountain. We then wrote the story, using
the plan to help us. The next day, we edited our stories, using a checklist, so we could decide
what we did well, and what we need to do even better next time.
We made predictions about characters in the book 'Where the Wild Things Are'.
We also had a brilliant drama lesson based on this book. We worked in twos,
pretending to be characters from the book.
First of all, we made up our lines and said them to each other….
Then we added hand gestures....
Next we used facial expressions....
And finally, variations in our tone of voice....
Another book we read was 'The Tin Forest'. We made a mood map of the story
to show how the main character's feelings kept on changing throughout the
book.
We finally said goodbye to our Superheroes topic by making superhero puppets,
which we sewed and decorated.
of Life Processes and Living
the differences between
we want. We decided that

computers, X-Boxes, fame

designed 'I want / I need' posters.....
We began our new topic
Things by talking about
what we need and what
we need food, water, air
we don't need ice cream,
or pizzas to stay alive
these things!). We
Then we were introduced to MRS NERG, who helps us to remember the seven
life processes. MRS. NERG will be joining us in our lessons again over the next
few weeks...
And finally.......We enjoyed a most energetic and fun PE session with Colin from
Sports Development. We learnt lots of new games and performed dance and
gymnastics exercises.
