Exam at Yukon College
REGISTRATION & FEES
Please contact Bente Sorensen at 668-8716 or testing@yukoncollege.yk.ca to arrange a time to
write the exam, and to obtain an LPI Private Sitting Registration Application.
The next step is to register with the LPI Office at the University of British Columbia. The cost is
$160.00 + $19.20 HST. Please note that there is an additional $50.00 for the exam invigilation.
Once your registration is received at the LPI Office, your exam will be sent here to Yukon
College.
EXAM CONDITIONS
You will be given 2.5 hours to write the exam.
You must bring the following to the test:
1) the Test Admission Ticket that you receive when you register;
2) a passport-type photo to be mailed with your exam;
3) photo identification;
4) a pencil and a pen.
No dictionaries, books, or papers are allowed into the exam room.
PREPARATION FOR THE EXAM
A study workbook for the LPI is available in the College Library, and workbooks can be
purchased at the Yukon College Bookstore. As well, additional study materials can be
purchased through the LPI website, www.lpitest.ca .
RESULTS
Results are available online within three weeks.
ENGLISH AT YUKON COLLEGE
PREREQUISITES FOR REGISTERING IN ENGLISH 100



A student with 80% or higher on a provincially examined English 12 (not
Communications 12) may register for English 100 without an LPI score.
A student with a grade of B or better in Yukon College’s English 090 may register
for English 100 without an LPI score.
All other students must write the LPI exam and meet the requirements listed below
to enter English 100. The LPI scores must be current (within the past two years).
REQUIRED LPI SCORES FOR ENTRY INTO ENGLISH 100



A student with an Essay Score (Part IV) of Level 5 or 6 may register in English 100.

A student with an Essay Score of Level 4 with 24/40 on the Essay and a combined
score of 24/40 on Parts I, II, and III, may register in English 100.
A student with an Essay Score of Level 4 and less than 24/40 on the Essay or less
than 24/40 on the combined scores of Parts I, II, and III should register in English
090 Bridging English for University.
