For co-signed leases
If the lease is co-signed and both co-signers are a spouse to the
other, both people can be insured for 100% of the rent.
•Even if one spouse is not gainfully employed and their name
appears on the lease, that spouse can still be insured for
100% of the rent. Certain limitations apply.
•If only one spouse has signed the lease, then only that insured
is eligible for disability insurance.
•For co-tenants who are not spouses, under the policy
definition, only the portion of rent payable by each co-tenant
can be insured.
Remember, you can insure your rent in exactly the same way as
you do for insuring your other loans because iA Excellence does
not ask for evidence of loans or rent until the time of claim.
Come claim time
In the event of a claim, a copy of the lease and/or loan
agreements will have to be submitted as supporting evidence.
