Compared to last week: The special fed veal carcass market was steady
to weak on open market and packer owned calves on moderate demand and
light to moderate offerings. Harvest numbers were 0.1 percent lower
compared to last week's total. Dressed weights were down 1.9 pounds
in the Northeast, down 0.1 pounds in the North Central, with the
total NE & NC being down 1 pounds.

FOB Major Production Points
Compared to last week: Special fed veal cut prices were mostly steady to
lower. The weekly veal features decreased by 34.3 percent this reporting
period. Shoulder Roasts and Scallopini found ad space once again as Stew
Meat dominated the veal features this week as the general price trend was
unevenly steady.

December Milk Production up 0.7 Percent
Milk production in the 23 major States during December
totaled 16.4 billion pounds, up 0.7 percent from December
2014. November revised production at 15.6 billion pounds,
was up 0.7 percent from November 2014. The November
revision represented an increase of 26 million pounds or 0.2
percent from last month's preliminary production estimate.
Production per cow in the 23 major States averaged 1,894
pounds for December, 6 pounds above December 2014. This is
the highest production per cow for the month of December
since the 23 State series began in 2003.
