SA Bite Position Description: Executive Officer The Executive Officer of any state representative team (i.e., SA Bite) is a critical role model and mentor to our best amateur ballplayers. SA Bite personnel are responsible for establishing a team culture that adheres to (or exceeds) the standards of Baseball SA and Baseball Australia, which includes action, attitude, image, and demeanour. Accordingly, all SA Bite personnel must lead by example both on- and off-field, especially in regards to fair play, respect, ethics, dedication, and tenacity. Specifically the Executive Officer shall be required to the following duties as instructed: A. As per the direction of Baseball SA personnel or the Head Coach, coordinate offfield management of the team, including, but not limited to, organising and/or confirming accommodation, transport, catering, uniforms, laundry, finance, and administrative tasks; B. Assist coaches, as per the direction of Baseball SA or the Head Coach; C. Ensure Baseball Australia’s and/or Baseball SA’s Code of Conduct, Social Media Policy, Match Fixing Policy, Heat Policy and dress codes are adhered to and enforced; D. In consultation with Baseball SA personnel, ensure team dietary needs are met on a daily basis to achieve optimal performance; E. Ensure wellbeing of athletes and coaches at all times and ensure athletes and coaches receive medical attention and/or treatment as required; F. Notify Baseball SA of any athletes or coaches that require medical attention and report each injury; G. Manage team budget; H. Record all expenditures and submit financial report to Baseball SA within 14 days of tournament completion; I. Communicate effectively with athletes’ parents and/or guardians, and ensure they are consistently informed of team schedules, logistics, and costs; J. Ensure athletes and coaches have access to suitable drinking water at all times when on-field, including training, warm-up, and games; K. Ensure team has access to ice and first aid; L. Ensure team has access to healthy snack food, where appropriate; M. Ensure athletes and coaches are on time for all meetings and events; N. Ensure team rules and curfews are enforced; O. Participate as an on-field coach, as per the direction of Baseball SA and/or the Head Coach; P. Liaise with Head Coach to complete and transmit a daily game report to Baseball SA; Q. Ensure athletes are adequately prepared to participate in competitive tournament baseball; R. Commit to travel with the team to and from the competition and dedicate significant effort to facilitate the achievement of team goals whilst onsite at the competition; S. Possess, or successfully complete prior to competition deadline, a SAPOL Police Certificate or similar national working with children check; T. Adhere strictly to Baseball Australia’s and/or Baseball SA’s Code of Conduct, Social Media Policy, Match Fixing Policy, and Heat Policy; U. Complete “Play by the Rules” child health and safety module; V. Abstain publicly from alcohol and tobacco whilst executing duties associated with this position; and W. Present well at all times and adhere to Baseball SA dress code.
