GVE STORY Raymond Visan, the visionary founder of George V Eatertainment, has developed the original concept of a restaurant with a lounge/bar, exotic decor with its own original signature music played by a live DJ. Launched with Barfly in 1995, there are now four venues in Paris: Buddha-Bar, Bound, Barlotti, Barrio Latino and many more worldwide. These “Eatertainment” concepts have led to retail merchandising which includes records (15 CD compilations) and Buddha-Bar Retail (CD, compilations, jewellery, clothing items, lifestyle and trendy household items). A natural evolution of these restaurants/bar/ lounges and DJ concepts was to develop upscale hotels. Buddha-Bar Hotel & Spa in Prague is a celebration of everything that is Buddha-bar. A new dimension of hospitality which offers a unique and inspirational lifestyle experience. Another successful enterprise is the Buddha-Bar Spa in Evian-Les-Bains. The incredible Sanctuary Night Club in Dubai, has set a new standard for the international clubbing scene. More concepts and interpretations have been developed and licensed franchises sold worldwide - nightclubs, spas, lifestyle boutiques, restaurants, bars/lounges and hotels. RAYMOND VISAN Raymond Visan was born in 1950 in Boulogne Billancourt, France. Very much a family man, he is a proud father of four children and has been married to his wife Tarja for twenty years. Destined to work in the family’s Duty Free business, he demonstrated an early business acumen by opening new and improved sales outlets featuring innovative products. Later he was invited to showcase the Horseman Statues of Tsin (the first Emperor of China) and other museum pieces from China’s national heritage on loan from the Chinese Government in the Printemps department store in Paris. The exhibition was an international success and attracted over half a million visitors. The family business was sold in the late 1980s and Raymond established a chain of 1950’s America themed diners. Frustrated with the lack of innovation in the restaurants, bars, and clubs he visited during his travels, he decided to combine their best features into a unique Restaurant/Bar/Lounge with a vibrant and energetic club-like setting and a live DJ creating its specific musical signature, a mix of lounge and house music… The B*fly was born and immediately successful, quickly followed by the famous and celebrated Buddha-Bar. Later on, Raymond Visan developed his signature concepts in new locations, building a worldwide reputation. TARJA VISAN Born in Finland, she later moved to France in the early 1980’s to begin an international modeling career, giving her the opportunity to travel the globe and discover its abundance of cultures. She soon became a Citizen of the world, and grew fascinated with its traditions and various lifestyles. In 1986, she married Raymond Visan, together they established four Restaurants/Bars/Lounges that have now become icons of Parisian nightlife: B*Fly (now Bound), Buddha-Bar, Barrio Latino and Barlotti. At the same time, Tarja’s natural passion for music led to the creation in 2001 of a Music Label, George V Records, whose numerous compilations - including the « buddha-Bar » CD collection - are now worldwide standards. Growing concerned about ecological issues and eager to contribute to the solution, the label decided to produce Eco-minded DVDs and CD’s, and worked closely with Allain Bougrain Dubourg - a renowned wildlife and nature expert - to release « Buddha-Bar Nature » in 2006 and « Buddha-Bar Ocean » in 2008. Wishing to share her passion for well-being and a healthy lifestyle acquired during her international modeling career, Tarja took a new challenge in 2007, opening the first Buddha-Bar Spa in Evian-les Bains to critical acclaim. Combining Asian and Tibetan skin & body cares with a natural range of beauty products, mixing traditional and modern treatment techniques, she created the Buddhattitude - Chic and Zen associated with East and West influences. A collection of Buddhattitude CDs - with a soothing and relaxing signature atmosphere completed that unique vision. After taking by storm Evian-les-Bains - birthplace of European spa and health resort - the Buddhattitude will travel to new destinations: Dakar, Doha, Dubai and many more… franck fortet josé munoz Franck Fortet was educated in north Africa, France, and the United States. The British had a presence in India for the first half of the 18th Century - Napoleon embarked upon an Egyptian campaign in 1798. Oriental ideas, visions, life-styles and spices were brought back to Europe and influenced all forms of culture, cuisine and enhanced intellectual debate and understanding.
