What does your band name, “the Glorious Dregs” mean?
“Dregs” literally refers to sediment that is contained in liquid, the bottom of the barrel. It
has the connotation of being undesirable. “Glorious” means possessing or deserving
glory, or marked by great beauty or splendor.
The name is an attempt to describe the paradox that each of us as humans are; dregs
on our own, but glorious by the grace of God.
What is your mission?
In one sentence; our mission is to achieve our full potential as a band, paying special
attention to both excellence and honesty.
Excellence, because sloppy delivery is a distraction that would reduce any impact our
music might have.
Honesty, because as we bring down the walls that we hide behind and be real in our
music, others may let their guard down as well and be touched in some way that may
never have happened had we try to orchestrate it.
Are you a “Christian band”?
Yes in the sense that all of our members are Christians, but not in the sense that all of
our songs will be obvious “message songs”. Much like a Christian artist who chooses to
paint dramatic depictions of God’s creation rather than billboards with a Christian slogan
or catch-phrase on them, we have chosen to treat the music we create as art. A key
ingredient of art is subtlety, which is not what some people have come to expect from a
“Christian band”.
